    Nutrition Activity supervisor (National Position)

    Reporting to - Food Security Project – Project Manager Supervision of- N/A

    General purpose of the position

    The Nutrition Activity Supervisor will be responsible to technically support the field staff in the establishment and implementation of malnutrition prevention systems within the WFP Food Security project, the implementation of the emergency nutrition programming including integrated Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), MAM treatment using Tom Brown approach, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring, analysis and reviews. The position holder will provide guidance and support to the Food Security team and beneficiaries in the field on the implementation of the planned nutrition sensitive activities like home gardening.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities

    • Conducts analysis of the nutrition situation for the design, development and management of food security projects.
    • Summarizes nutrition data, conducts analysis and prepares reports to support program reviews and informative decision-making improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures for efficient implementation of the malnutrition prevention programs.
    • Develops team capacity in nutrition through effective guidance, coaching, training and accountability.
    • Assists in developing and expanding the malnutrition prevention activities through promotion of CMAM, IYCF and awareness raising in targeted areas.
    • Technically leads in the implementation of home gardening to support the beneficiary’s malnutrition prevention program.
    • Analyzes the BSFP & TSFP projects tracking tools to monitor nutrition screening, activity implementation data, and other external relevant data on Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM).
    • Ensures appropriate and consistent malnutrition education messaging/Social Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) to others and other care givers at all the CMAM or IYCF sites
    • Ensures follow-up is done on the TSFP beneficiary absentees and/or defaulters tracing and other forms of beneficiary required follow-ups in the program.
    • Trains and mentors Nutrition project staff and Community Nutrition Mobilisers (CNM) through identification of capacity gaps, talents.
    • Regularly reports and coordinates with the Project Manager regarding challenges faced in the field for timely and appropriate support.
    • Ensures technically-sound nutrition beneficiary selection criteria and approaches;
    • Prepares and submits the monthly project progress report.
    • Presentation of monthly progress report
    • Attends all relevant Nutrition Sector Meeting.
    • Conducting above tasks and any other tasks requested by line manager.
    • Conducts duties strictly in accordance with INTERSOS Code of Conduct and the principle of confidentiality.
    • Any other task as assigned by the Supervisor

    Position Requirements

    Professional requirements

    • Relevant Degree in science or related subject
    • Minimum 4 years of work experience at national level project implementation position in a humanitarian context;
    • Technical Food Security knowledge of WFP malnutrition prevention project activities

    Medical Doctor (National Position)

    Work location – Roving (Bama and Magumeri)
    Reporting to – Nutrition Activity Manager Supervision of- N/A

    General purpose of the position
    Under the supervision of the Nutrition Activity Manager (NAM), the Medical Doctor will be responsible for the proper implementation of the health and nutrition program activities with emphases on quality services, result oriented sensitisation, mobilisation and active participation in all the areas of implementation. Ensuring strict adherence to INTERSOS procedures, standards and policies as well as national guidelines set donors and Health and Nutrition cluster.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities

    • Participates in planning and undertaking nutrition surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the nutrition program activities.
    • Ensures activities are being implemented accordingly and protocols and guidelines are followed at all times
    • Conducts weekly data quality assessment; providing inputs and data for monthly Nutrition activities’ reports.
    • Ensures the quality of the nutrition service given in all different locations meet the expected standards.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management of project site activities and staff (IYCF, OTP, SC, CHVs).
    • Facilitates cross-sectorial programming, particularly to promote excellent communication and referral between IYCF, CMAM, FSL Programming.
    • Ensures availability of materials, equipment and supplies and adequate management of the materials in all of the area’s intervention; accurate record keeping, ordering and accountability.
    • Provides technical & organizational support and trainings for the project staff, MoH and other humanitarian actors as necessary to promote consistent good practice
    • Any other task assigned by the supervisor

    Position Requirements
    Professional requirements

    • Minimum of B. Sc.in one of the following areas: medicine, health and nutrition.
    • Minimum three (3) years relevant professional work experience, in the implementation of health and nutrition activities, with background/familiarity within Emergency Contexts.
    • Minimum 3-year experience with recognized INGO

    Personal requirements

    • Conversant with Health Information Management Systems Data.
    • Competence in training and team management.
    • Knowledge and adherence to the Humanitarian Code of Conduct.
    • Good analytical and reporting skills
    • Strong interpersonal and excellence as a team player.

    Food Security Field Coordinator (National Position)

    Work location – Bama & Monguno LGA)

    Reporting to - Food Security Project Manager Supervision of - Field officers

    General purpose of the position
    The Food Security Field Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the Food Security activities implemented at the field location within the framework of the WFP project, ensuring that they are delivered following the proposal text agreed upon with the donor, and that these activities are achieved in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to INTERSOS guidelines.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities

    • Oversees the management and implementation of the food security projects funded by WFP in accordance to the Field Level Agreement at the field level.
    • Leads implementation of Food Assistance activities (In-kind and Cash Based Transfers) and malnutrition prevention activities (Blanket and Targeted supplementary Feeding Program) using appropriate INTERSOS and WFP project management tools.
    • Leads in planning, implementation, monitoring of the food Security project activities.
    • Ensures implementation of technically-sound beneficiary selection criteria and approaches;
    • Ensures tactical plans for all the food security projects activities t the field level are developed and followed.
    • Ensures field level activities are set up efficiently using the INTERSOS program Integration model to promote malnutrition prevention, enhance food security and build community resilience.
    • Supervises programme implementation quality in accordance with INTERSOS and Donor policies, and the generally accepted best practices.
    • Builds on existing, and seeks new synergies for advocacy through the cluster system at LGA level, technical working groups and other fora in Food Security and Nutrition Sector.
    • Supports cross-sectoral periodic programme reviews to assess programme progress, capture lessons learnt and adapt programme strategies as necessary in accordance with INTERSOS Project appraisal Tool (PAT).
    • Analyses and reports the humanitarian needs and provide clear and detailed recommendations for intervention.
    • Develops appropriate targeting criteria and mechanisms to ensure the needs of identified vulnerable groups are met.
    • Supports the Nutrition Activity Supervisor in identifying and developing knowledge gaps, technical needs opportunities.
    • Supports the Nutrition Activity Supervisor for project activities development and staff training and skill development.
    • Ensures protection and gender are mainstreamed in all the Food Security project activities.
    • Ensures community involvement in all phases of the project cycle.
    • Prepares and submits the monthly project progress report, quarterly, case studies, success story, publications etc.

    • Ensures the field project team share the daily, weekly & monthly reports in a timely manner.
    • Attends all relevant Local Coordination Sector Meeting.
    • Conducting above tasks and any other tasks requested by line manager.

    Communications Specialist (National Position)

    Work location - Roving

    Reporting to - (Hierarchical): Head of Base (Functional) Content Manager HQ

    Supervision of - Communications Officer (project)

    General purpose of the position
    The Communications Specialist will lead the overall communications strategies and deliverables for the Nigeria Mission, including the production of quality multimedia materials and the strengthening of external communications. He/she will be directly reporting to the Head of Base (HoB), and functionally coordinating all activities with the Mission.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities
    External Communications

    • Ensures production and dissemination of quality communication, reporting and visibility of INTERSOS activities to the targeted audience
    • Supports Project/ Programme Managers in documenting project activities and related humanitarian issues by producing multimedia materials for INTERSOS external communications.
    • Supports and following up (as requested by Program/PMs) on the collection of multimedia materials requested by Donors for their internal and external communications.
    • Direct involvement in collecting beneficiaries’ stories, aggregating data, pitching news, taking pictures, filming and editing videos thorough the mission, with frequent field visits, to be planned accordingly with security and mission’s priorities.
    • Leads operational communications by providing tools and directly engaging in the production of specific materials.
    • Leads the production of institutional communications and visibility materials at mission level.
    • Manages when requested, and upon final decision of the HoM, the relations with international and national journalists who approach INTERSOS;
    • Establishes and manages the INTERSOS Mission Facebook page, including developing and publishing posts in adherence with INTERSOS communication guidelines and ensuring its appropriate functioning as a tool for accountability and communication with communities.
    • Facilitates the organization of Media Field Visits coordinated with the HQ;
    • Supports the Mission in developing of the Communications strategies with the public and key stakeholders, as well as conducting perception analysis

    Internal Communications

    • Monitors the local press highlighting any content that may be relevant for the humanitarian response in the country and for INTERSOS’ programmes;
    • Analyzes and reports traffic on the INTERSOS Facebook page
    • Ensures in coordination with Project/ Programme Managers and under the supervision of the Comms Focal Point the respect of visibility guidelines and donors’ compliance.
    • Ensures under the supervision of the Comms Focal Point, the compliance of all multimedia materials to INTERSOS’ protection, communications, and privacy policies and guidelines, as well as donors’ guidelines.
    • Production of monthly bulletin for INTERSOS Nigerian Mission in coordination with Program team
    • Develops advocacy messages in close coordination with program team, head of offices and HoB

    Position Requirements
    Professional requirements

    • University Degree major in Communications, Journalism or related disciplines
    • Video/Photo shooting, editing and excellent Writing skills
    • Excellent communication and advocacy skills in relation to beneficiaries and stakeholders
    • Proficient application of social media (FaceBook, Instagram, Youtube, etc), WordPress and the Office Suite Programs
    • Previous journalistic experience (preferential)
    • Previous experience with INGOs in communications sector (preferential)
    • Previous experience in social media content management (or similar)
    • Previous experience in Program Development, donor reporting and digital designing

    Personal requirements*

    • Strong motivation and adherence to the humanitarian principles and the mission of INTERSOS
    • Availability to travel on national territory outside work location as and when necessary
    • Flexibility in working hours, weekend / holidays when required by the situation/ context
