    Finance Assistant

    General Position Summary

    Working in the Finance Department under the direction of the Finance Officer and with close coordination with the HR team. The position holder will assist the finance office in adhering to the compliance procedures for all operational and program-related activities and LESGO financial implementation, and ensure adequate internal controls are in place and in compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements and LESGO policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Finance Officer to enhance the efficiency of the existing control system and ensure any identified compliance gaps are corrected.
    • Enter transactions (PIs, GJs etc.) into the accounting software accurately.
    • Prepare Monthly Payroll related statutory remittances (PAYE, Pensions, NHF, NSITF & WHT)
    • Prepare National staff monthly payroll based on HR advice.
    • Prepare monthly Expat Tax and Field salary advances.
    • Assist the team in the preparation of Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
    • Sorting and reviewing timesheets for coding, leave, holidays, etc.
    • Manage Finance archiving and ensure monthly update of finance archiving index.
    • Support audits (donor, internal, external, and statutory) by retrieving and refilling documents.
    • Make payments on the bank platforms, print off all payment vouchers and match them with the document to be filled.
    • Prepare Amortizations of prepaid expenses and tracking of prepaid benefits for compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Prepare Monthly Month end account reconciliations for Naira and USD Accounts.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAPs, Nigerian, US and standard accounting practices.
    • Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor obligations are met.
    • Make sure all income taxes, withholding taxes, VAT and other taxes are withheld and paid accordingly.
    • Be adaptable and flexible to take on new tasks and new assignments as requested from time to time.
    • Work closely with the Finance and program departments to ensure the Standard Operating Procedures for voucher redemption are followed properly.
    • Provide team members with information, tools, and other resources to improve performance and reach objectives.
    • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • A minimum of 3 years of compliance and finance experience in Humanitarian sector is required.
    • A university degree in finance, accounting, or any related field.
    • ACCA/CPA/CIA/CISA certification or the equivalent qualification is an added advantage
    • Demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software.
    • Advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Prior management experience and strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent oral and written English skills.

    Auditor

    Job Description

    Support LESGO in monitoring and improving our internal control environment by reviewing and assessing the important risks associated with all aspects of our processes and providing practical recommendations to reduce against the same.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the planning, scoping, and execution of internal audits following the annual audit plan and risk assessment process.
    • Conduct interviews, document reviews and other procedures to gather information and assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
    • Prepare audit work papers and ensure that all recommendations are documented.
    • Gather audit evidence to support findings and suggestions for improvement.
    • Prepare audit reports for presentation to management and the audit committee.
    • Determine internal audit scope for specified assignments.
    • Issue reports on findings of audits that highlight issues and potential impacts on the organization.
    • Provide administrative support.

    • Checking the accuracy of financial reports
    • Auditing the efficiency of organization processes
    • Ensuring the organisation adheres to policies, procedures, legislations, and regulations.

    Specific Qualification/Requirements

    • Minimum of 3-5 Years working experience in an audit firm.
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or related fields from a recognized university.
    • ACCA/CPA/CIA/CISA certification or the equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
    • Member of a professional body in audit or related fields.
    • Exhibit integrity and truthfulness.
    • Excellent report writing.
    • A team player.
    • Advanced level of Excel (can perform complex functions) use and analysis.
    • Knowledge of accounting systems.
    • Knowledge of professional standards.

    Program Officer

    Job Summary

    The Program Officer will report to the program manager, provide technical leadership and support in all thematic focal areas of LESGO; assist in the designing, planning and implementation and coordination of program activities, capacity development, and M&E activities in the targeted project locations. S/he will be involved in grant/proposal writing, systems development and partnerships. S/he will assist in the development of work plans and other programme /organizational documentation, support the team and management to ensure adherence to proposed budgets as well as to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in the development of organizational strategy documents, grant proposal, Logical framework/project Implementation Plan, reports.
    • Assist in developing and monitoring annual work plans, program initiatives and budget development including coordination and operationalization of LESGO result framework.
    • Support effective project management, coordination and provide support to partners on the project implementation procedure, data management and effective financial management.
    • Provide support as needed, the preparation and timely submission of detailed reports on program activities on basis in compliance with requirements.
    • Support the development of annual, quarterly donor and government report writing including management and updates.
    • Participate in project monitoring and supportive supervision to partners, project sites and communities.
    • Provide support to government and key stakeholders to ensure community buy in and sustainability of the LESGO activities.
    • Support, as needed, the mobilization of partners’ support for activities.
    • Support the collection of data to inform and support Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Research related activities
    • Represent LESGO at various meetings, technical working groups and relevant forums.
    • Support in the production, management of program content for program website and activities as required.
    • Provide support to all programme activities

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field
    • Minimum of 3 -5 years professional work experience in NGO will be preferred and an added advantage
    • Demonstrated project management experience including  proposal development budget development, event planning, coordinating multiple partners and stakeholders
    • Demonstrated strength and experience in writing technical reports and documents
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills; fluency in English language is essential
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to solve problems and resourcefulness
    • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
    • A dynamic personality with an eye for details and innovative
    • Strong computer skill in MS Office Suite is required
    • Fluency in local language will be an added advantage
    • Understand cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age sensitivity and adaptability
