    Driver

    • Driving vehicles and passenger safety and security of transported materials/equipment’s :
    • Following DNA Learning Center Nigeria driving Regulation
    • Adapting his/her behavior and driving to assure passengers’ security, DNA Learning Center Nigeria equipment and the rest of road/street users (drivers, pedestrians, etc.).
    • Always drive according to the Nigerian circulation code and respecting speed limits
    • Always wearing safety belt while driving and ensuring all passengers do the same
    • Ensuring having a valid driving license and always have it ready for any eventual inspection
    • Ensuring that all necessary documents are valid and renewed before the expiration date (yearly road safety check, registration of main drivers with the Rental Company, etc.)

    Maintenance of the vehicle:

    • Checking on a regular basis the vehicle’s motor, oil level, breaks liquid, air pressure of wheels, wind shield liquid, cleaning the care daily etc.
    • Alerting direct supervisor in case of technical problem or need for maintenance
    • Organizing or if possible carrying out of any necessary maintenance after validation of direct supervisor
    • Ensuring the vehicle is clean on the inside and outside
    • Ensuring all necessary equipment and material is present in the vehicle and in good condition (tools, spare wheel, airlift, belts, ropes, etc.)
    • Refilling the fuel tank each time the tank is at half of its capacity
    • Remaining stand-by in the office in between movements

     Other Duties / Responsibilities

    • Realize small purchases following the orders of the logistics officer
    • Fill a logbook with kilometers and fuel consumption he does
    • Supporting the team for manual tasks (load/unload the vehicle)
    • Participate in internal work meetings and inform DNA Learning Center Nigeria team on log issues
    • Report any security related issues to the supervisor
    • Supporting operational organization of field trips
    • Maintaining full confidentiality for all work-related information

    Logistics and Inventory Officer

    Purpose: 

    The Inventory Officer plays a vital role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all laboratory materials, equipment, and supplies. This includes tracking inventory levels, distribution, associated costs, and pricing of all items. The officer ensures the proper utilization, availability, and servicing of laboratory equipment and supplies, supporting efficient and uninterrupted laboratory operations.

    Key responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment, managing the procurement and safe storage of reagents and consumables, and ensuring the proper disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with relevant regulations. The Inventory Officer also collaborates closely with procurement and purchasing teams to monitor stock levels, initiate timely reorders, and coordinate the prompt delivery of required materials.

    Role

    • Initiates and implements measures to ensure the cost-effective use of all supplies utilized in laboratory operations.
    • Assists the Assistant Director in developing the annual budget for supplies and expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary limits and promptly reporting any deviations.
    • Participates in the evaluation of new or improved products, providing informed recommendations to the Assistant Director.
    • Serves as a resource for laboratory staff and clients on procurement processes and supply-related inquiries.
    • Ensures that all personnel are familiar with procedures for efficient ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of laboratory supplies on a daily basis.
    • Stays informed on current product trends and innovations through professional publications and meetings with sales representatives, assessing their potential impact on laboratory operations and budgeting.
    • Collaborates with the Assistant Director and unit leads on special projects and other assignments as needed
    • Maintains optimal inventory levels, preventing waste due to overstocking or expiration of reagents, products, or supplies.
    • Oversees an efficient inventory control system to ensure the availability of laboratory supplies and support timely distribution
    • Under the direction of the Assistant Director, manages the ordering, receipt, storage, and distribution of all laboratory supplies.
    • Monitors supply usage trends and adjusts stock levels accordingly to maintain operational efficiency.
    • Performs annual physical inventory of all laboratory supplies.
    • Evaluates and reports to the Assistant Director all vendors communicating areas of concern.
    • When directed, the Inventory Officer shall assist the Assistant Director in negotiating optimal pricing for inventory items to ensure cost efficiency. The officer will maintain detailed budget records for all inventory items, utilizing spreadsheet formats to track and measure variances in inventory utilization. Under the Assiatant Director’s guidance, the Inventory Officer will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive computer database of all laboratory inventory and supplies, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
    • Distributes information regarding the availability of supplies and other pertinent information to all laboratory staff and clients.
    • Responsible for ordering, receiving, storage and distribution of all reagents, supplies, consumables, equipment, parts, paper, forms, and any other inventory item(s) related to the operation of the Laboratory.
    • Responsibilities extend and apply to any and all locations and sites as which the Laboratory may maintain, distribute, and/or utilize inventory in all of its various forms.

    Quality Assurance Officer

    Purpose:

    Under nominal direction, this position is responsible for oversight and management of quality assurance, resources, personnel, records management, and safety programs to promote internal compliance, ensure accreditation and commitment to valid and reliable forensic and laboratory services.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Maintains laboratory safety and cleanliness; monitors equipment and supply levels; initiates purchase orders as appropriate
    • Audits unit operations and training; identifies opportunities for improvement. 
    • Ensures ongoing accreditation to meet International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards, forensic testing requirements, and state statutes.
    • Manages assigned programs and establishes goals and objectives to achieve conformance through continuous improvement.
    • Reviews, recommends, and revises policies and procedures to assure compliance with applicable requirements.
    • Ensures equipment is calibrated to established levels of accuracy; maintains detailed records and documentation. 
    • Coordinates program activities, evaluates key performance areas, and facilitates the implementation of best practices.
    • Acts as liaison between the Department and external bodies on matters related to accreditation and other regulatory requirements as well as information requests.
    • Manages the internal audit and external assessment processes required by the Department’s accrediting body.
    • Evaluates laboratory programs and makes recommendations regarding analytical procedures, equipment, software, and records management
    • Monitors the outcomes of audits, corrective actions, proficiency testing, and testimony for trends and implements preventive actions for mitigating organizational risk
    • Oversees the management of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and system-wide software solutions.
    • Monitors and maintains training and development program for employees. Consults with Unit Supervisors regarding requirements for continued qualification of examiners; provides guidance and recommendations to employees; and reviews and approves changes in laboratory procedures.
    • Ensures that new methods and protocols are properly developed, tested and validated for use on casework.
    • Reviews standard operating procedures, quality manuals, and training manuals and publishes any changes to manuals and procedures as needed. 
    • Under management direction, investigate complaints, problems, incidents, and corrective/preventative action regarding the quality system and prepares non-conformance documentation as required. 
    • Testifies as expert witness to explain laboratory policies, procedures and accreditation requirements, as needed and approved by management.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

    Laboratory Technician

    Purpose:

    Laboratory technicians (Lab Technicians) are the backbone of a scientific research lab. They carry out tasks (such as preparing samples, running investigations and recording results) that support other scientists and their work, so the role is almost entirely laboratory-based. They can work in a range of areas of science including forensics, health and manufacturing. There are also opportunities for lab technicians in educational organizations such as schools and universities.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

    A lab technician’s typical duties include:

    • Conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments.
    • Planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials.
    • Recording, analyzing and interpreting data.
    • Demonstrating procedures, collecting, preparing and/or testing samples.
    • Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and testing sterility of the equipment.
    • Providing technical support.
    • Presenting results to senior staff.
    • Writing reports, reviews and summaries.
    • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
    • Supervising staff and other laboratory users.
    • Carrying out risk assessments, ordering and maintaining stock and resources.
    • Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
    • Carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.
    • Construct, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters.
    • Receives and logs samples and evidence in accordance with rules of chain-of-custody.

    You\'ll have to follow strict health and safety procedures and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, dust, biological waste, bodily fluids, fumes and toxic waste. Some degree of lifting and heavy work is likely with the daily moving of equipment, machinery, samples and supplies.
