    GBV Case worker

    Chabash development and Health Initiative (CDHI) is a non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT NO: 85190). Existing since March 2016, CDHI focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in Northeast Nigeria. CDHI operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its programme principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population and bridging those gaps through resource base planning and implementation.

    Location: Michika, Adamawa State.

    Job Summary:
    Under the supervision of the GBV Officer the GBV case Worker will oversee providing survival centered case management services to women affected by conflict and specifically providing support to survivors of gender-based violence. They will oversee identifying the needs of the women and refer them to appropriate care to meet their needs.
    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Provide survival centered case management services, including needs assessment, case plans, follow-up, referrals, and counseling.
    • Develop and implement the individual case planning for women in case management
    • Ensure regular follow-up of the implementation of the case plan for each woman.
    • Liaise with other Protection actors to coordinate implementation of common standards and consideration of protection issues
    • Identify special needs of the women and liaise with the GBV Officer to meet these needs.
    • Provide confidential referral based on the best interest of the women to other service providers as part of case management; follow-up to ensure that all the cases adequately receiving needed support once referral has been made.
    • Receive cases referred from other CP, safe house and service providers to provide case management as required.
    • Identify or and build capacities of community volunteers, incentive to provide information and education and how to refer to women in need.
    • Create and updating service mapping on their coverage area. coordinate woreda level case management meetings
    • Identify gaps / challenges in service delivery and coordinate with relevant actors to ensure that safe and confidential services are made available and accessible to vulnerable women.
    • Complete and maintain case management records and ensure that they are stored in a safe and confidential manner.
    • Submit weekly and monthly case management reports.
    • Input all data on a regular basis and submit to the supervisor for review and approval.
    • Conduct an incidence trends analysis each quarter for purposes of learning, future programing, and advocacy.
    • Practice self-care.
    • Always adhere to the GBV protection guiding principles.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Humanitarian Work, Nursing, and any other related course.
    • 2 years and above experience in this field
    • Flexible and willing to work and stay in rural communities especially field-based
    • Attended training on GBV case management and is aware of protection issues. Proven experience in similar functions desirable.
    • Experience in GBVIMS and case management
    • Good knowledge of VAPP ACT law.
    • Computer literate especially Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of other software is an advantage.
    • Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
    • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders externally.

    Nutrition Assistant

    Location: Michika, Adamawa State  
    Employment Type: Contract

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Facilitate the delivery of the nutrition activities at the field level and provide technical support to HWs and CNMs
    • Supporting targeting of beneficiaries; formation and establishment of Care groups; selection of community volunteers and members of community structures.
    • Work closely with care group promoters and lead mothers to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and agreed and appropriate referrals take place to and from the community to health facilities.
    • Work closely with CNMs to ensure all children are screened correctly.
    • Ensure comprehensive health checks and correct clinical diagnosis at the time of assessment according to the CMAM protocols so that the patient receives appropriate treatment in the relevant program.
    • Ensure timely identification of complications, non-responders, and referrals to the SC.
    • Ensure correctness, consistence, and completeness of the information in the nutrition registers.
    • Ensure adequate availability of all medical and food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with logistics.
    • Through liaison with the community volunteers provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems... etc.
    • Provide key health and nutrition education messages to beneficiaries based on the protocol and guidelines.
    • Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission.
    • Follow-up and ensure CNMs interact with the beneficiaries properly.
    • Provide a daily and weekly CMAM report to the nutrition officer.
    • Documents lessons learned in specific technical areas.

    Requirements
     
    The Nutrition Assistant WILL be based in Michika/Madagali.  

    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, community health or other relevant field.  
    • 1-2 years’ work experience in implementing CMAM, IYCF, and other community-based nutrition activities. Experience in MAM treatment using Tom Brown approach is desirable.
    • Master’s degree in relevant fields; Nutrition, Public Health, Community Health will be an added advantage
    • Be proficient in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Have excellent team, project management and representation competencies.
    • Ability to speak local languages in Michika LGAs will be an added advantage.
    • Have previous NGO experience managing mobilization in different interventions (i.e., CBT, WASH, Nutrition) preferably.
    • Be committed to Action the CDHI’s mission, values, and policies.
