    Transaction Monitoring Analyst

    About the Role

    As a Transaction Monitoring Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with all applicable regulations and policies. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth transaction reviews to identify and investigate suspicious activities. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the integrity of our operations will be crucial in this role.

    As a member of the Compliance team in the Transaction Monitoring Unit at Kora, you will work with cross-functional teams to enhance our ability to review, detect and prevent suspicious or fraudulent activities.

    Your role will involve close collaboration with departments such as Legal, Operations, IT, and Risk Management to develop and implement advanced transaction monitoring processes, ensuring that they align with industry regulations and best practices. You will actively contribute to maintaining a robust culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization, while also assisting in identifying and mitigating risks related to financial crimes and compliance breaches.

     Being a tech company that values innovation, competence is also required in designing custom-made solutions from data to aid Kora in achieving her unique objectives and goals.

    What You’ll be Doing

    Transaction Review:

    • Review and analyze financial transactions to identify potentially suspicious activities.
    • Utilize monitoring tools and systems to detect anomalies and irregular patterns.
    • Investigate flagged transactions to determine their legitimacy or potential risks.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of transaction monitoring activities and findings.
    • Prepare and submit suspicious activity/transactions reports (SARs/STRs) as required by regulatory authorities.
    • Collaborate with the Legal and Compliance teams to provide the necessary documentation for investigations.
    • Work closely with the Compliance Manager and other compliance team members to align efforts.
    • Ensure all transaction monitoring processes adhere to applicable compliance standards.
    • Report any potential compliance violations to the Compliance Manager.
    • Assist with internal and external audits related to transaction monitoring.
    • Stay updated on the latest trends and threats related to financial crimes and fraud.
    • Provide training and guidance to employees on transaction monitoring best practices.

    What You’ll Need

    You’re qualified if you are/have:

    • A minimum of 3 years experience in the financial industry is essential. Candidates should have a background in roles related to risk management, compliance, or anti-money laundering (AML). 
    • Prior experience as a Fraud Analyst, Compliance Officer, Transaction Monitoring Officer or similar role experience in a B2B environment, FinTech services, or Banking industry.
    • A strong understanding of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements is crucial. Familiarity with laws such as AML/CTF/CPF/ABC/ sanctions obligations with demonstrated experience at a senior level.
    • Knowledge of Transaction monitoring and KYC/CDD.
    • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or similar certifications would be an added advantage

    Senior Frontend Engineer

    Data Engineer

    About the Role

    We’re looking for an exceptional Data Engineer to join the team responsible for Kora’s data infrastructure and AI strategy to optimize and automate processes, identify and maximize growth opportunities, drive a data-driven culture across board as well as innovate and build AI products. 

    As a member of the AI and Data team at Kora, you will work with cross-functional teams to understand current processes, identify opportunities to solve problems, develop custom tools, algorithms, and models, build custom solutions to optimize deployment workflows and develop solutions to business problems through data engineering.

    The role demands that you are exceptional at problem-solving, able to structure the efficient generation and management of data (including big data), capable of extracting valuable insights and coding to automate the extraction of the insights, make predictions, and recommend for decision and action.

    What You’ll be Doing

    • Combine raw data and information from required sources, analyze and organize them as well as interpret trends and patterns.
    • Conduct complex data analysis and report on results.
    • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
    • Build analytical tools, programs, algorithms and prototypes necessary to achieve Kora’s goals.
    • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
    • Documenting data processes.
    • Ensuring that data to generate accurate recommendations and predictability for data-driven operations are engineered.
    • Harnessing Kora’s data (structured and unstructured), preprocessing them, and turning them into useful information, tools, and insights.
    • Presenting information using data visualization techniques.
    • Keeping abreast of developments in data engineering and continuously researching to ascertain the quality of output and outcomes.

    Brand Storyteller

    About the role: 

    The brand storyteller is responsible for developing multimedia content that provides information and showcases Kora’s products and services. You will create valuable content for Kora’s website, blog posts, feature announcements, thought leadership posts and marketing copy. 

    In collaboration with cross-functional teams, you are essential to ensuring that Kora’s brand messaging and tone of voice are consistent across various platforms. 

    Requirements

    What you’ll be doing: 

    You will be required to:

    • Write compelling copy for Kora’s platforms that are clear and in line with the brand's personality. These include:
    • Writing and delivering persuasive copy for Kora’s website and landing pages and social pages
    • Writing and editing blog content 
    • Creating engaging copy for brochures, concept notes, one-pagers and other sales collateral. 
    • Completing writing projects, and following content requirements in terms of style and project specifications. 
    • Liaising with the compliance department to ensure copy and content compliant
    • Ensure the brand's voice, and tone is consistent in all content and according to the brand's guidelines. 
    • Use search engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximise online visibility of Kora’s website in search results.
    • Provide well-researched written content through a variety of mediums, translating technical content into well-understood  and easy-to-digest information
    • Other duties assigned. 

    What you’ll need: 

    You are qualified if you:

    • Have 3+ years of experience as a content writer for different audiences and formats.
    • Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio.
    • High-quality writing skills with a strong command of English.
    • Have experience in researching and crafting SEO-focused content. 
    • Have experience in multimedia storytelling
    • Understand persuasive copy to influence leads, prospects and customers.
    • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g WordPress).
    • Ability to work on multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously.
    • Proficiency with writing programs, such as Google Docs and Microsoft Office Tools.  
    • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate with colleagues.
