    Senior DevOps Engineer

    Reports to: VP, Engineering
    Department: Engineering

    Position Summary

    • We are looking for an Intermediate DevOps Engineer who will be responsible for managing the already existing cloud infrastructure while building new infrastructure.
    • As such, the ideal candidate must have experience implementing solutions to complex problems in AWS, deployment of applications in a fast paced environment, building scalable deployment pipelines, with experience in scripting for automating infrastructure provisioning

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work with application developers to automate and accelerate the testing, release and deployment of applications into a runtime environment quickly and reliably.
    • Provide continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment with the core suite of tools used to manage different cloud providers.
    • Establish and employ continuous integration practices and tools such as GitLab
    • Employ industry Continuous Delivery patterns and collaboratively work with other members to achieve successful continuous delivery solutions
    • Manage a broad portfolio of AWS infrastructure tools (Fargate, ECR, ACM, EBS, S3, EC2, Elastic IP, Route 53, VPC)
    • Manage integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, etc.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
    • 3+ years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, application development, or operations.
    • 2+ more years experience in designing large and complex IT operations in large organizations is required.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

    • Experience in the use of configuration management automation tools such as Puppet (or other such tools) in creating continuous delivery systems.
    • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes
    • Strong understanding of application development methodologies
    • Adept at evaluating problems accurately and displaying sound judgment
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure management and automation technologies (Chef, Puppet).
    • Scripting (shell, python, ruby) skills for monitoring and automation
    • Experience optimizing applications, both stand-alone and in distributed systems to maximize performance
    • Experience maintaining an infrastructure and ensuring stability while adding new features
    • Ability to clearly articulate design and implementation choices
    • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
    • Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
    • Possess a strong grasp of automation tools
    • Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
    • Experience working and managing large scale infrastructure is required

    Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Administrator

    Reports to: VP, Lab Operation
    Department: Laboratory Operations

    Position Summary

    • The LIMS Administrator role encompasses many aspects of sample management, analysis configuration, and overall lab documentation management. Instrument calibrations, chemical management, and on-site/virtual training are other key responsibilities in this role.
    • Maintenance support, design & build, updating existing data, and adding new data points while updating business and user documentation are other key responsibilities.
    • This position is expected to provide leadership to support LIMS and continue to improve the application to support the business and laboratory needs.
    • Seeking an individual who has experience managing an application and supporting multiple users across various sites. Communication, organization, and initiative are key skills needed for this role.

    Essential Functions

    • Ensure on-time and in-scope implementation of enhancements to system
    • Provide end-user support
    • Provide first level diagnostic of incidents and support end-users and work with IT to resolve issues
    • Responsible for master data management
    • Create data queries against database
    • Create reports using Crystal Reports
    • Create/Update documentation

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree or IT (Technical Degree) in Computer Science, Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry or related discipline) preferred
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in use/administration of LIMS.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

    • At least one year of  Crystal Reports experience
    • Coding experience desired
    • Working knowledge of LIMS Basic, Crystal Reports, Chemistry, Laboratory Research Environments, application support
    • Prior experience with LIMS system
    • Sample management experience
    • Lab experience or other application support for laboratory research is preferable
    • Business support analyst, senior application analyst or other IT related experience is preferred.

    Consultant - Clinical Microbiologist

    Department: Laboratory Operations

    Position Summary

    • We are seeking highly-motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team in the 54gene laboratory. Candidates must be willing to join a fast-paced environment, be willing to learn quickly, adapt to new environments and must have a keen interest in laboratory and research related activities.
    • The Clinical microbiologist will support operations in the Microbiology department of laboratory Operations at 54gene.

    Essential Functions

    • Managing the work of the department and responding to requests for information and advice from within the laboratory and externally.
    • Ensure Clinical Microbiology Lab in 54gene is compliant with a consistent set of company approved laboratory policies and procedures, proper financial and operational controls, quality assurance measures, and safety programs and requirements.
    • Manage, in conjunction with the finance officer and head of laboratory operations, the contracts and resources of the department within the budget.
    • Develop and oversee long-range planning and budgeting plans including; personnel and equipment needs; monitoring and managing the laboratory budget, and monitoring the annual capital forecast
    • Be responsible for identifying future developments, which may affect the work of the laboratory and develop plans accordingly.
    • Participate in relevant professional activities and provide professional expertise and advice to outside bodies.
    • Ensure that all staff undergo regular performance development reviews to identify individual training needs, set and monitor objectives in line with the needs of the individual and objectives of the laboratory.
    • Ensure that the laboratory’s quality management system is maintained and developed.
    • Ensure that appropriate risk management procedures and documents are in place.
    • Maintenance of laboratory quality.
    • Continue to further education by participating in forums, conferences and industry specific organizations.
    • Handle materials in accordance with the standards for infection prevention and control.
    • Ensure that services are provided in an accurate, efficient and cost effective manner.

    Duties:

    • Construction of clinical reports.
    • Supervision of laboratory scientist to ensure laboratory standards and turn around time are met.
    • Occasionally liaise with doctors and attend multidisciplinary team meetings as the need arises.
    • Maintenance of laboratory quality.
    • Recommend the replacement and/or order of new equipment.
    • Continue to further education by participating in forums, conferences and industry specific organizations.

    Requirements

    • Graduate from a recognized Medical School with MBBS or MBBCh or its international equivalent.
    • Must be registered as a specialist with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
    • Wide experience in all aspects of clinical microbiology
    • Experience in Research and Global Health Delivery is a plus.
    • 2 years post-fellowship experience in clinical Microbiology
    • Must have a valid license to practice in Nigeria.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

    • Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all staff. Professional attitude towards work, reliability, good record of attendance and tidy personal appearance.
    • Demonstrate leadership and team management skills including the ability to manage his/her staff and service and work with multi-disciplinary team members.
    • Demonstrate a high level of verbal and non-verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with colleagues, hospital management, other hospital staff and stakeholders from other institutions.
    • Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organising skills including awareness of resource management.
