    Head of Communications

    Job Description

    • The Head of Communications role is focused on strengthening CcHUB's reputation as Africa’s leading innovation and creative ecosystem enabler by strategically shaping and amplifying our voice across the continent and globally.
    • The role will lead the design and execution of high-impact communication strategies that:
    • Elevate CcHUB’s profile across its priority sectors (Creative Industries, Education, Health).
    • Drive targeted engagement with priority audiences to unlock participation, partnerships, and funding.
    • Strengthen internal cohesion across CcHUB’s Pan-African footprint.
    • Showcase impact, insights, and thought leadership to influence ecosystems, policy, and investment flows.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Strategic Communications & Brand Positioning:

    • Lead the development and execution of a multi-country communications strategy aligned to CcHUB’s 2025–2030 vision, sector priorities, and thematic focus.
    • Shape a clear, compelling CcHUB narrative tailored for funders, partners, policymakers, ecosystem players, and the media.
    • Drive targeted audience segmentation to deliver the right message to the right audience in the right channel.
    • Ensure CcHUB’s positioning reflects its Pan-African reach, sector depth, and innovation leadership.

    External Engagement & Thought Leadership:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with tier-1 African and global media outlets, journalists, and influencers in technology, innovation, and creative economy spaces.
    • Proactively identify and secure speaking, thought leadership, and media opportunities for the CEO, senior leadership, and practice leads.
    • Curate and amplify CcHUB’s research, insights, and ecosystem intelligence to influence sector narratives and policy discussions.

    Content Leadership & Storytelling:

    • Oversee creation of high-quality, engaging content (articles, op-eds, reports, videos, case studies) that showcase CcHUB’s work, partners, and portfolio companies.
    • Lead development of compelling impact stories across CcHUB’s hubs, programs, and alumni network.
    • Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all channels, including digital platforms and partner communications.

    Campaigns & Event Communications:

    • Design and execute integrated campaigns to support program launches, funding announcements, ecosystem initiatives, and advocacy goals.
    • Manage media relations, coverage, and amplification for CcHUB-hosted and external events, including Pan-African pop-up convenings.
    • Collaborate with practices and the Community Team to leverage events for visibility and partnership generation.

    Internal Communications:

    • Strengthen internal alignment and knowledge sharing across hubs and countries through fit-for-purpose internal comms platforms and practices.
    • Work with leadership to ensure all teams understand and can articulate CcHUB’s priorities, impact, and narrative.

    Measurement & Insights:

    • Establish clear metrics for communications performance (reach, engagement, influence, partnership leads generated).
    • Track, analyse, and report on campaign and platform performance, using insights to refine strategy and execution.
    • Feed ecosystem intelligence and feedback from communications activities into business development and program design.

    Portfolio Company Support:

    • Provide strategic communications advisory to CcHUB-supported startups and partners, enhancing their brand positioning and storytelling to attract customers, partners, and investors.

    Qualifications
    Essential:

    • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills for varied audiences.
    • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills across geographies and cultures.
    • Proficiency in digital platforms, analytics, and social media strategy.
    • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
    • Strategic thinking with a creative mindset, linking communications to funding and partnership outcomes.
    • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to fast-changing contexts.

    Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of strategic communications principles, media relations, and brand positioning in Pan-African or global contexts.
    • Knowledge of innovation, technology, and/or creative industry ecosystems in Africa.
    • Familiarity with audience segmentation, targeted messaging, and integrated campaign design.
    • Awareness of digital communications trends, analytics tools, and impact measurement approaches.
    • Understanding of cross-cultural communications in multi-country organisational contexts.

    Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in strategic communications, media relations, or brand management.
    • Proven track record of building brand visibility and thought leadership in relevant sectors.
    • Demonstrated success in securing high-quality media coverage in African and global outlets.
    • Experience in designing and delivering communications that support business development and funding outcomes.
    • Experience working with senior leaders to amplify organisational voice and impact.
    • Prior exposure to multi-country communications delivery, preferably in Pan-African contexts.

    Gender Manager

    Job Description

    • The Nigeria GATEWAY Program, led by Co-creation HUB (CcHUB), is a 5-year initiative designed to support 400,000 Nigerian youth, including women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and displaced youth to access training, resources, and gig work opportunities.
    • We are seeking a Gender/DEI Manager to champion the integration of gender equality, disability inclusion, and broader diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles across the program.
    • The Manager will ensure that interventions are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the unique barriers faced by marginalized groups.
    • The Gender/DEI Manager will provide technical leadership on gender and inclusion strategies, oversee gender/disability audits, and support the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions that close participation gaps.
    • The role will also strengthen staff, partner, and stakeholder capacity to adopt inclusive approaches, ensuring the GATEWAY Program achieves measurable impact for women, PWDs, and other underrepresented groups in Nigeria’s digital gig economy.

    Key Responsibilities
    Gender & DEI Mainstreaming

    • Integrate gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches into the design, delivery, and evaluation of all program components.
    • Conduct gender, disability, and inclusion analysis to identify barriers and design responsive interventions.
    • Ensure that training, voucher systems, digital tools, and gig-matching mechanisms are inclusive and accessible.
    • Support M&E teams to integrate gender/DEI-sensitive indicators and track participation and outcomes for women, PWDs, and displaced youth.

    Inclusion Audits and Action Planning:

    • Lead gender and inclusion audits across program operations, training providers, partner hubs and gig platform partnerships.
    • Develop and monitor action plans to address gaps in participation, accessibility, and equity.
    • Regularly update program policies and processes to reflect evolving gender/DEI best practices and Nigerian regulatory standards.

    Report Development and Resource Mobilization:

    • Provide input on donor reports to ensure gender/DEI responsiveness.
    • Support budget reviews to ensure resources are adequately allocated for gender-sensitive and inclusive interventions.

    Capacity Building and Training:

    • Design and deliver training sessions for staff, partners, training providers, and gig platforms on gender equity, disability inclusion, and DEI practices.
    • Develop toolkits, guidelines, and resources for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to program teams to strengthen DEI integration into daily operations.

    Thought Leadership and Advocacy:

    • Position the GATEWAY Program as a leader in inclusive digital workforce development in Africa.
    • Document and share case studies, lessons, and success stories on gender and inclusion impact.
    • Represent the program at forums on gender equity, inclusion, and the future of work.
    • Advocate for inclusive workforce policies with gig platforms, government, and industry stakeholders.

    Partnerships and Collaboration:

    • Build partnerships with organizations focused on gender equity, disability rights, and youth inclusion.
    • Work with government, civil society, and private sector stakeholders to co-create inclusive interventions.
    • Support joint advocacy and collaborative efforts to promote equitable access to gig work opportunities in Nigeria.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in gender mainstreaming, disability inclusion, DEI programming, or social inclusion within development, workforce, or innovation ecosystems.
    • Technical Expertise: Strong background in gender and inclusion analysis, inclusive program design, and monitoring.
    • Intersectionality: Solid understanding of how gender, disability, age, and socio-economic status intersect in creating barriers to opportunity.
    • Capacity Building: Demonstrated experience delivering training and technical support on gender and inclusion to diverse audiences.
    • Communication & Advocacy: Excellent writing, facilitation, and advocacy skills with proven ability to engage government, civil society, donors, and private sector stakeholders.
    • Policy & Context: Familiarity with Nigerian (and African) gender, disability, and inclusion frameworks, policies, and legal standards.
    • Education: Degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Disability Studies, or related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
