    Group Chief Risk Officer-Energy & Cement industry

    Responsibilities

    • This is a strategic leadership role, combining governance and assurance with hands-on support to operations. The role requires deep knowledge of enterprise risk management, strong experience in the energy/oil & gas sector, and the ability to foster a risk-aware culture while enabling the Group’s growth agenda.

    Risk & Assurance Leadership

    • Design, implement, and oversee the Group’s enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.
    • Identify, assess, and monitor strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, and HSE risks across the Group.
    • Ensure robust systems, policies, and standards are in place to mitigate key risks and safeguard the Group’s assets.
    • Provide assurance to the Board and Executive Management on risk exposure and mitigation measures.

    Governance & Compliance

    • Develop and enforce risk-related policies aligned with international best practices (ISO 31000, COSO, IIA standards).
    • Coordinate with Audit, HSE, Compliance, and Finance to ensure an integrated approach to risk.
    • Oversee internal assurance activities, including risk-based reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements in all jurisdictions of operation.

    Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Management, and the Board on enterprise risks and opportunities.
    • Provide risk insights to support strategic decision-making and capital allocation.
    • Represent the Group with external stakeholders, including regulators, insurers, and business partners.

    Culture & Capability Building

    • Promote a strong risk and assurance culture across the Group.
    • Lead training and awareness initiatives to embed risk management practices within business units.
    • Build and mentor a high-performing risk and assurance team.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    Education:

    • Master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Risk Management, Law, or related discipline. Professional certifications (IRM, ISO 31000, CRMA, CIA, CFA, PMP) are an advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 15–20 years’ experience, with significant exposure to the oil & gas, energy, or large-scale industrial sectors.
    • Proven track record of leading enterprise risk management or assurance functions at executive level.
    • Solid knowledge of HSE, regulatory compliance, project risk, and financial risk frameworks.
    • Experience working across African or other emerging markets highly desirable.
    • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong strategic and analytical mindset with hands-on execution ability.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
    • Ability to operate in a complex, fast-paced, and multicultural environment.
    • Entrepreneurial and pragmatic, with a focus on enabling business growth while managing risks.

    Group Chief Commercial Officer โ€“ Refining & Industries

    Responsibilities

    • This executive role is pivotal in shaping and executing the Group’s commercial strategy, with a strong focus on refined products. The GCCO will drive sustainable revenue growth, expand market share, and ensure customer excellence while fostering innovation and building resilient partnerships.

    Strategic Leadership

    • Define and execute a Group-wide commercial strategy aligned with long-term growth objectives and business unit priorities.
    • Lead commercial transformation initiatives emphasizing customer-centricity, operational excellence, and digital innovation.
    • Monitor global market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and regulatory shifts to proactively guide business decisions.
    • Develop innovative pricing models, new sales channels, and advanced customer engagement strategies to maximize profitability.

    Sales & Business Development

    • Oversee B2B and B2C sales operations, ensuring that downstream and refined product divisions meet domestic and regional targets.
    • Design and optimize sales structures, incentive programs, and performance management systems.
    • Identify and lead new business opportunities, strategic alliances, and partnerships across domestic, regional, and export markets.

    Marketing & Brand Management

    • Shape and implement unified marketing and brand strategies across all Group businesses.
    • Strengthen brand equity, customer loyalty, and competitive positioning of refined petroleum products and other portfolios.
    • Leverage both digital and traditional channels to accelerate market penetration.

    Customer & Key Account Management

    • Instill a customer-first culture across the Group, with a focus on downstream and refinery clients.
    • Develop key account strategies and oversee high-value client relationships in industrial and institutional segments.
    • Enhance customer satisfaction, service delivery, and retention across multiple businesses.

    Operational & Financial Performance

    • Drive commercial efficiency, pricing optimization, and gross margin improvement across product lines.
    • Align commercial activities with finance and supply chain to ensure effective cost, working capital, and inventory management.
    • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and performance monitoring frameworks to track and sustain results.

    Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing commercial teams across the Group’s diverse businesses.
    • Engage with Group leadership, Board members, regulators, and industry associations to influence policy and support growth.
    • Cultivate strong partnerships with government entities, distributors, and industry players to reinforce market leadership.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.

    Experience:

    • At least 20 years of experience, including 10+ years in a senior commercial leadership role in large, complex organizations.
    • Strong track record in oil & gas, downstream, petrochemicals, manufacturing, or FMCG.
    • Proven success managing multi-billion-dollar revenue portfolios and delivering commercial growth strategies.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Strategic and analytical mindset with strong business acumen.
    • Expertise in sales, marketing, and commercial operations within energy or industrial sectors.
    • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills at Board and government levels.
    • Digital fluency, with ability to leverage e-commerce platforms, CRM tools, and data analytics.
    • Resilience and adaptability in complex, fast-moving environments.
