    Project Officer (Digital Peacebuilding) – Nigerian Youth CARE: Nigerian Youth Collective Action for Religious Engagement

    Position Summary

    • Search is seeking Project Officers with some experience in digital peacebuilding for a consortium project in Bauchi, Plateau, and Gombe. The role will specifically provide program implementation support for a 24-month project funded by the United States Department Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL)The project will be implemented in consortium with an implementing Partner -
    • The Youth Leaders Network (YLN) with the overall goal of empowering diverse youth in Bauchi, Plateau, and Gombe States to advance inter-religious tolerance and FoRB. The position requires basic experience in conflict transformation, peacebuilding, digital literacy, and social media engagement in addressing the root causes of conflicts related to FoRB and inter-religious tolerance which are driven by young people.
    • The position holder must be organized and experienced in program implementation, utilizing digital and social media listening tools in responding to real-time conflict, peace efforts, security, and the overall aim of conflict transformation.
    • This position will be based in our Bauchi office, with frequent travels to Gombe and Plateau States. She/he will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. The position holder will support the project implementation in collaboration with a team of Officers and Assistants.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Coordinate with the Project Manager in establishing the youth led advocacy platform in Bauchi State
    • Coordinate with the Project Manager and support units in engaging youth activists in Plateau, social media influencers and community stewards in Bauchi, Plateau and Gombe
    • Organize monthly meetings with the youth led advocacy network and other platforms supporting in partnership with Youth Leaders Network. 
    • Participate and share analysis of snapshots and other reports with the youth network and other stakeholders 
    • Support the utilization of social media platforms and other online resources to connect young people from different religious backgrounds and facilitate dialogue and exchange. This could include creating online communities or forums where young people can discuss their beliefs, practices, and challenges in a respectful and open-minded manner.
    • Support the development of educational materials and resources, such as videos, podcasts, and interactive quizzes, that teach about the beliefs, practices, and histories of different religious communities in the state. These resources could be shared through social media platforms and other online channels.
    • Lead implementation of initiatives that utilize virtual and augmented reality technologies to create immersive experiences that bring young people from different religious backgrounds together and facilitate dialogue and understanding.
    • Use data analytics and other digital tools to track the impact and effectiveness of inter-religious programs and activities, and make adjustments as needed to ensure that they are meeting their goals and objectives.
    • Work with tech companies and other organizations to create partnerships and collaborations that can support the use of digital tools to promote inter-religious understanding and respect for diversity among young people in the state.
    • Engage with young people directly to gather feedback and ideas about how digital tools can be used most effectively to promote inter-religious understanding and respect for diversity in the state.
    • In collaboration with the Communications Coordinator, document key success stories from the project’s engagements.
    • Support programmatic and logistical support and assistance to the Project team
    • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports to supervisor and other country teams

    Core Competencies:

    Education

    • A degree in conflict resolution, peace studies, peacebuilding, conflict management, or related field;
    • Additional education in conflict management, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution 

    Required Experience

    • At least 3 year’s experience as a Project Officer, two of those years should be in the non-profit and NGO sector in relevant topics (as per the above-mentioned list) for a diverse range of audiences (from communities to authorities); 
    • Understanding of and experience in the use of Google Analytics, real-time monitoring and tracking, and utilization of social media platforms for peacebuilding.
    • In-depth knowledge of the conflict and FoRB context in Bauchi, Plateau, and Gombe State

    Other Relevant Requirements

    • Good knowledge of the local languages will be an asset.
    • Knowledge of civil society organizations, government agencies, private sector companies, and international development agencies, with experience working in partnership within some of these sectors;
    • Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to synthesize complicated policy issues into digestible products and to deal with both elite and popular media and specialist and non-specialist audiences;
    • Experience in partnership building, with experience in influencing stakeholders and establishing and maintaining strong partnerships;
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills;
    • Commitment to Search’s aims and a clear understanding of the links between policy, lobbying, campaigning, and how policy change can be achieved through effective advocacy;
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail;
    • Ability to respond flexibly to opportunities and requests sometimes with little notice;

    Media Officer (Digital Peacebuilding) Nigerian Youth CARE: Nigerian Youth Collective Action for Religious Engagement and Inclusive Religious Engagement Enhanced by Women Projects.

    Position Summary

    • Search for Common Ground is seeking an experienced Media Officer (Digital Peacebuilding) who will work with the project team in empowering diverse youth in Bauchi, Gombe, and Plateau States to advance inter-religious tolerance and freedom of religion.
    • The candidate should be experienced in using digital technology to address the online drivers of conflict including the divided information ecosystem thereby contributing to a healthy digital ecosystem/neighborhood.
    • He/She should possess the skills to gather and accelerate data collection, analysis, and visualization which will enhance narrative change, information sharing, and giving a voice to stakeholders. 
    • The position will be based in Jos with frequent field travels to Bauchi and Gombe states.

    Roles and Responsibilities: Mass Media

    • Engage the media and other forms of communication, including social media platforms, to promote inter-religious understanding and respect for diversity among young people in the state. This could include producing and distributing educational materials, as well as working with journalists and influencers to cover inter-religious events and issues in an objective and fair manner.
    • Document lessons learned, messages, and outcomes from the program to communities across Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe
    • Keep track of media logs, monitor the broadcast of the media products, and provide regular feedback to the service providers
    • Monitor the media component of the project in collaboration with identified media partners 
    • Provide necessary support to the Communications Coordinator to manage social media profiles relating to the project, including publishing and distributing content, running campaigns, and monitoring progress
    • Provide support to the Project Manager and Media Specialists in delivering the multimedia peace campaign to raise public awareness and knowledge around issues as they relate to the project objectives 
    • Collaborate effectively with the Media Specialist and media team to create high-quality relevant multimedia products that cut across all platforms which will contribute to changing attitudes and challenging stereotypes. 
    • Responsible for overseeing all the multimedia products 
    • Develop relations with media actors and assist in mobilizing media for events where necessary;
    • Capture photos and success stories in all Search meetings, training, and events;
    • Roles and Responsibilities: Program Coordination
    • Provide communications support during outreach events e.g producing materials, live stream on social media, or coordinating a press conference for project activities in target states
    • Keep track of current issues and strategies in peacebuilding to leverage opportunities for Search’s communications.
    • Communicate with target groups, communities, partners, and stakeholders to understand and address the program’s end-user information and communications needs;

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, development studies, marketing, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
    • Data management, strategic communications, and dialogue and networking.
    • At least 3 years of professional experience in Digital Campaigns, Digital Marketing/Advertising, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Creating Digital Media, Participatory Video, etc.
    • Online Facilitation and remote capacity building
    • Understanding of and experience in harnessing traditional and social media for awareness-raising and advocacy, social media savvy;

    Other Relevant Requirements

    • Outreach, communications for development, advocacy, social marketing,, media and public relations, and campaigning preferably with an I/NGO; 
    • Strong command of English language and relevant language in the locations, with excellent written and oral communication skills 
    • Excellent copywriting skills for social media and other digital platforms

    Roving DMEL Coordinator

    Position Summary

    • Search for Common Ground is seeking a dynamic, analytical, and self-motivated individual for the position of Roving Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Coordinator to be based in the Nigeria Country office in Abuja. This role requires one with experience in the design and implementation of programme monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning for programmes across the Development and Peacebuilding nexus.
    • S/he must have concrete experience with monitoring and collection of routine programme data in order to support Search to gather, analyze, and process complex information related to all aspects of program activity implementation and have it stored in a database.
    • The holder will also ensure that DMEL OKR indicators are collected routinely and used to update the GMS.
    • S/he will support programme DMEL leads in the states to develop a project indicator tracking Template, and use it to capture routine and non-routine data that will be used in the production of a performance dashboard to showcase progress towards programme/project results target.
    • The incumbent will carry out his/her work according to an established DMEL standard operating procedure for collecting data, monitoring project progress, and measuring program inputs/outputs/outcomes result statements. The Roving DMEL Coordinator will directly report to the Head of DMEL Unit, and liaises with the PDQR Unit and the State programme teams in providing technical support to DMEL State Teams on key DMEL activities in the field.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Take a lead role in the designing Indicator Tracking Template for all Projects in the Organization and work closely with the DMEL leads at State levels to roll out the ITT and use it to develop Organizational Quarterly Dashboard that will feed into project reports to key stakeholders.
    • Work closely with the Head of DMEL to design and roll out a Beneficiary Response and Feedback mechanism that has a clear and appropriate channel of communication that suits each audience.
    • Support the Head of DMEL by collaborating with programme teams to develop an indicator reference sheet for project indicators in line with Search and Donor MEAL Standards and train staff to use it to inform project reporting.
    • Support to carry out data quality assurances and submit a report to the Head of DMEL with clear recommendations on how data quality in the organization can be improved. Upon approved of recommended strategy or any other that may be suggested, the Roving DMEL Coordinator will be responsible for building the capacity of programme Staff on how data in the organization should be improved., and the validated data used for reporting.
    • Ensure the state team is aware of and up to date on all DMEL tasks and reports.
    • Conduct site visits during the project implementation phase in assigned areas.
    • In concert with the DMEL Manager, develop Monitoring and Evaluation plans for field-level
    • Identify lessons learned, constraints, and project impacts based on determined theme and/or sector for inclusion in Monthly and Quarterly Reports.
    • Share observations from monitoring visits with DMEL Manager when findings demonstrate questionable actions.

    Strategic Objectives

    • Collection of case studies and success stories across the projects suitable for external audiences
    • Conduct project monitoring visits on a regular basis and report findings to the project teams to improve the delivery of activities in line with set standards. and DM&E team through spot checks with project volunteers,
    • Maintenance of up-to-date databases and indicator tracking table of the project capturing progress against target of all projects.
    • Conduct/Support monthly review and quarterly project reflection meetings for projects within your jurisdiction.
    • Conduct Quarterly DQA and devise appropriate strategies on how data quality in the organization can be improved.
