    Senior Internal Control Auditor - SW

    About the Job

    The primary responsibility of the Internal Control Senior (Region) Lead is to: - Carry out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the country’s financial, physical and information resources are managed in respect of Industrial and Logistics Functions.

    What you'll be doing

    Industrial & General

    • Supporting the Internal control and Audit management in the planning and preparation of the assignment.
    • Ensure key internal controls are defined, implemented, documented, assessed and monitored in front of material risks;
    • Contributes to the design and recommendation of new policies and procedures to strengthen existing controls
    • Performing audit and verification procedures, and maintaining internal control and audit Working Papers and document repository.
    • Preparing and contributing to the group and audit committee report on policies, programs and activities of the business for presentation.
    • Monitor management’s responses and implementation of internal control requirements.
    • Supporting Internal audit management during the reporting phase (eg. report writing, stakeholder debrief)
    • Supporting internal control and audit management during the action plan follow-up phase (e.g. conducting desk or on-site verifications) for closure.
    • Report on the value for money that the company obtains in all its activities with special regards to economy, efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Perform reviews on task requested by plant management, audit committee, etc via the internal control manager independently and objectively in accordance to the internal control function.
    • Provide opinion on the internal controls within the geographical area of operation.
    • Perform special investigation of cases in a professional manner when called upon.
    • Perform routine control testing of all business processes in the geographical area of responsibility for effectiveness

     

    Logistics 

    • Review the design, implementation and testing of all scheduling and dispatch processes and controls including inbound transfers specific to Logistics related processes within the Plant;
    • Evaluate the activities of the Logistics Safety Function in the plant in relation to the established laid down policies, procedures and operating effectiveness of relevant controls
    • Monitor the review of Logistics Operations and Transport Management within the plant for control adequacy and implementation.
    • Review the Depot activities, stock position and other handling related costs within the area of coverage

    Job Scope

    Industrial

    • Plant Related Activities covering - (Maintenance and Inventory management, Quarry operations, clinker production, cement grinding and Packing operations),
    • ReadyMix Plants within the region
    • Mortar Operations (specific to the region)

    Who you'll be working with

      • The incumbent interacts regularly with all cadres of staff and external parties to the Organisation including:
        • Plant Manager
        • Plant Controllers
        • Regional Logistics Managers
        • Country Internal Control Lead
        • May also interact on need basis with the external public including suppliers and other external stakeholders.

    What we are looking for

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
    • Desirable
      • Membership of ICAN, ACCA, CPA or other professional bodies such as in law, engineering, human resources, assurance services, etc
      • Membership of Internal Control Institute or The Institute of Internal Auditor
      • ISACA’s CRISC certification
      • Understanding of the cement industry or a similar business and regulatory environment (is a plus)

    Specific Work experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant job experience, preferably with some experience in an internal audit function of multinational or Big ‘4’
    • Fair knowledge of process review & documentation: including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits
    • Knowledge of computerised accounting and auditing record keeping systems
    • An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports
    • An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal control and audit, including Control standards and legislation changes and developments as they affect the business, and new auditing techniques and practices
    • An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other staff and to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
    • An ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Technical / Functional Skills:

    • Fair understanding of Internal Control Framework such as COSO, Turnbull, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc. (certification preferable)
    • Good Presentation skills
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Strong computer Skills especially Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email applications
    • Ability to prioritise with excellent time management skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Experience in use of SAP is an advantage

    Specific Inspector

    About the Job

    The primary objective of Specific Inspector is to monitor equipment condition on a continuous basis and analyze trends in order to ascertain the required maintenance interventions (mechanical, electrical, mobile equipment) necessary to maximize equipment reliability, performance and life expectancy, at the lowest possible cost, while maintaining the production functions.

    What you'll be doing

    • The Inspector communicates regularly with the operations personnel to gain information on any problems or concerns they may have about the equipment and the way it is affecting the process.
    • The incumbent also analyses situations to determine whether it is a mechanical, electrical or operating problem and recommends solutions to correctly utilize all resources available.
    • Studies equipment problems and recommends modifications or replacements of it.
    • Investigates repetitive problems and initiates corrective maintenance procedures.
    • Continually informs Production, Process and Maintenance of the operating condition of equipment and advises those responsible when a piece of equipment should be shut down in order to prevent damage to said equipment or injury to any of the plant personnel.
    • The incumbent will ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures, availability of safety equipment and that first aid treatment is provided when required.
    • The incumbent is responsible and should have data pertaining to reliability so that he can analyse and advise departments on the information needed to perform RCFA (i.e. vibrations, temperatures, hours, causes, Pareto charts etc.)
    • Ensures that there has been a work order entered in CMMS to cover adjustments or repairs to equipment, checks for the proper equipment number, adequate description of the request, appropriate priority code and workshop or plant code.
    • Administers a Thermo graphic Analysis Program for all critical pieces of electrical equipment and reports results to all concerned including recommendations when required.
    • Preparation of the daily work schedule for the PPM tasks in accordance with equipment needs while utilizing CMMS to document and monitor equipment history files.
    • The incumbent participates in the administration of a Plant Lubrication Program with a conscious effort to reduce any undesirable impact on our environment.
    • Assist in the planning of systematic overhauls of major equipment.
    • Participate in the Maintenance Supervisor On-Call Program
    • Record all temperatures, pressures and any relevant information, which may be used for analysis from CCR.
    • The incumbent is also the plant person in charge of the Electrical integrity of the plant’s machinery.

    Who we are looking for

    • Minimum of HND or equivalent in any Engineering discipline (with mechanical engineering as main subject).

    Specific Work experience:

    • 2-3 years post graduate experience preferably in a cement manufacturing setting.

    Technical / Functional Skills

    • Strong Excel and MS Office proficiency (including good knowledge of PowerPoint).
    • Good knowledge SAP and SAP FC is a plus. Proficient in PPM systems both in theory and in practice.

    Behavioral competence:

    • Ability to work effectively under time pressure, in a demanding environment, while maintaining the highest professional standards
    • Ability to self-organize, prioritize tasks, take initiatives, and make recommendations while engaging with Senior Leaders.

    Leadership and managerial abilities:

    • Build informal networks across functions to ensure smooth flow inputs for own deliverables.
    • Top presentation skills to be able to convey clear and synthetic messages (verbally or on paper).
