    Expedited SVN – Project Assistant (PxD/AVRR)

    Job Description

    • Applications are welcome from internal candidates. For the purpose of this vacancy, internal candidates are considered first-tier candidates.

    Context:

    • Working under the overall supervision of the Project Officer (PXD_AVRR), and technical supervision of the National Project Officer (PXD_AVRR), and in close collaboration and consultation with other units within the PxD, the successful candidate will be responsible to assist the implementation and monitoring of the AVRR interventions, with a view to strengthen local actors’ capacities especially at state level to provide improved rehabilitation and reintegration support services.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide overall support to the day-to-day implementation of reintegration projects under PxD through rights-based approaches.
    • Provide rehabilitation and reintegration support to returned migrants in close coordination with the Senior Project Assistant, by preparing, screening filing, and presenting the documentation of vulnerable cases for references and monitoring.
    • Provide technical and administrative support to relevant state and non-state actors, including training institutions, involved with providing rehabilitation and sustainable reintegration assistance.
    • Support liaisons with relevant governmental, non-governmental (NGOs), international organizations as well as other relevant stakeholders, on partnerships and assistance to migrants in coordination with the supervisor.
    • Distribute travel allowances and return grants to returning migrants, as appropriate.
    • Contribute to review conditions of the business plan as pertaining to the reintegration programs and raise any issues. Carry-out field visits to the beneficiaries’ business sites to monitor the implementation of the activities. 
    • Assist with the development of the beneficiary profile and needs assessment formats and ensure the documentation and filing of all beneficiaries in a database for reference and monitoring including regular update of beneficiaries’ information in MIMOSA. 
    • Collect, prepare and present information through periodic and ad-hoc monitoring reports on reintegration activities for evidenced-based programming. Assist in the preparation for the exchange of information to relevant counterparts. 
    • Facilitate the entry of returning migrant data as required in MiMOSA and/or other relevant database as required by the project in coordination with the Senior Reintegration Assistance. Prepare data for further processing, analysis and reporting.
    • Support the monitoring of the reintegration of beneficiaries related activities when necessary.
    • Provide support to the assessment of the qualitative and quantitative impact of grants and community projects.  
    • Undertake duty travel as required.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

    Qualifications
    Education:

    • Completed University degree from an accredited institution in International Relations, Social Science, Economics, Migration studies, Law, Humanitarian Affairs, or related field with two years of related professional experience, preferably in migration related operational and field functions, or 
    • High School diploma with four years of related professional experience, preferably in migration related operational and field functions.

    Experience:

    • Experience in working with migrants and source/transit communities; particularly the socio-economic reintegration of returnees or other groups;
    • Familiarity with programmatic issues surrounding return, reintegration and migration management.
    • Knowledge of social development issues as well as general migration related issues in the country and the region.
    • Proven experience in liaising and building effective partnerships with donors, government authorities, private sector entities, other national/international institutions, and local and international NGOs.

    Skills:

    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Good knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.
    • Good communication skills (Oral and Written).

    Expedited SVN – Project Assistant (PxD/MHPSS)

    Job Description

    Context:

    • Under the overall supervision of the MHPSS Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties and responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health, Psychosocial Response, and Intercultural Communication Section in Lagos, Nigeria.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide administrative support in implementation of the MHPSS components of the AVRR programme and activities under the Migration Management unit in Lagos, Nigeria. 
    • Support organization of training activities for IOM colleagues and other partners’ staff involved with returnees in MHPSS support, including Psychological First Aid and other relevant
    • Carry out any other duties as assigned. 
    • PSS training (e.g; understanding emotional issues among returning migrants, positive communication skills, basic MHPSS concepts, etc.); 
    • Assist the team in the timely implementation of community-level sensitization on MHPSS issues through psychosocial and recreational activities adapted to the needs, age and abilities of migrants. 
    • Support the provision of reintegration assistance within the case management, specifically for vulnerable cases of returning migrants, and document and file all vulnerable cases for reference and monitoring including regular updates of beneficiaries’ information.
    • Assist in the day-to-day implementation of the AVRR programme and activities, within the component of MHPSS. 
    • Assist in collecting, preparing and presenting information through periodic and ad-hoc reports on MHPSS activities, and support coordination and exchange of information with national institutional, professional and academic counterparts. 
    • Provide general/basic counselling to the returnees to support smooth psychosocial reintegration within the family and community in coordination with protection focal points.
    •  Assist in monitoring MHPSS component activities including those implemented by the local partners.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • A minimum of four years relevant experience (two years’ experience for degree holders) from an accredited institution in Psychology, Counselling, or any other related Social Science course;

    Experience:

    • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in programmes, preferably in standalone MHPSS programmes or programmes with MHPSS components with non-governmental organisations.
    • Experience working with vulnerable groups, counselling, and protection interventions in an International NGO or UN Agency  
    • Work and/or academic experience focusing on migrant/mobile and/or at-risk groups preferably.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory. 
    • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions;
    • Experience in the area of migration, refugees and reintegration of migrants and victims of trafficking;
    • Ability to work under stressful working conditions such as tight timelines and managing large groups of beneficiaries;
    • Strong analytical, organizational and reporting skills;
    • Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government and Non-Governmental counterparts, international organizations, civil societies and/or private sector entities; 
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and PowerPoint, Good knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.

    Skills:
