Summary: 

• The Corporate Communications Manager will provide Company with strategic expertise across the Groups operations.
• This role has responsibility for developing and implementing Company`s strategic plans in accordance with the company’s mission and vision statements, managing all internal and external communications including PR, and coordinating the team to ensure processes and procedures for organizational and operational effectiveness and efficiency are adhered to.

Core Roles & Responsibility

Business Development, Branding and Strategy

• Provide specific and strategic input and support to the EC and Executive Management in the areas of business development, strategic thinking, policy and process formulation, implementation, and review.
• Design, Deliver and implement a Corporate Communications and Branding Plan
• Initiate marketing efforts that reflect positioning as a preferred industry player.
• Review brand associations to ensure consistency, clarity, and assimilation.
• Establish sources of equity and the current contributions to POP and POD, strength, favorability, and uniqueness.
• Harmonize brand elements to effectively communicate brand identity.
• Increase brand participation across board.

Internal communication and administration

• Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build brand awareness, visibility, and internal/ external customer satisfaction.
• Assess existing communications framework for gaps and efficiency.
• Scout and put in place the required scaffolding to support communications strategies.
• Introduce work automation aids for superior communications output.
• Review guides, standards, templates, and media libraries.
• Review corporate literature and core messaging in preparation for amplification across brands

Media Production

• Begin scripting for production of corporate documentaries, while identifying suitable production companies.
• Corporate photography tour to enrich corporate storytelling and support visibility efforts

Digital media and website renovation strategy

• Assessment of digital media operations and set a strategy in motion to establish brand distinction
• Highlight competence and capability
• Initiate and implement strategies to Increase visibility in industry gatherings (online and offline)
• Harness paid media strategy and SEOs in line with organizational strategy

Internal branding and communications audit

• Revise corporate profile messaging for clarity, consistency, and reach

End of Year Planning

• EOY event(s) and stakeholder relationship management – prepare suitable gifts for business partners, notable clients, and individuals.
• Source and produce corporate gifts
• Begin bookings for 2023 exhibitions and events for increased brand presence and visibility
• Review 2022 sponsorships and partnerships efforts
• Plan staff end-of-year event and recognition ceremony

Publishing

• Ensure End of Year Reports are finalized and published
• Begin drafting the 2023 corporate communications budget and strategy
• Publish End of Year Company Newsletter
• Begin draft of 2023 corporate profiles and brand communications assets
• Agency management
• Review terms of engagement to ensure planned scope is well covered.
• Put out RFPs for agencies where necessary.

Publicity and visibility

• Initiate plans for Q1 and plans for subsequent quarters in The Economist and other key and strategic media platforms
• Visibility – Decide on virtual and in-person events in west Africa and begin preparations
• Position for visibility to the wider continent
• Share of voice in the immediate community through outdoor advertising
• Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility
• Collate and publish all efforts in the last year and draw up CSR philosophy and focus for the current year.

External Relations

• Responsible for the External Relations team
• Ensure timely Tender and Bid Management and identification of new opportunities
• Stakeholder Management – NAPIMS, NIPEX, NCDMB and other external Stakeholders
• Prepare and deliver Weekly and Monthly Management reports to ExCo

Other Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to the team including the effective delegation of work,monitoring of workload, performance management to ensure all activities and customer/client service levels are maintained.
• Work in partnership with other Departments to aid continuous improvement and implement improvement programs (e.g., changes to working practices and organizational changes).
• Coordinate work efforts of other departments to ensure integration and completion of work tasks against expectations.
• Bring formality to the operational decision-making process and promote the efficient use of business resources.

Minimum Education & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field
• Minimum of 10 years post-NYSC experience in a similar role at a senior level. Extensive experience managing Travels, Corporate communication, People management, Fleet and Office & Facilities Management.
• Customer Relationship: Ability to facilitate and accelerate the business relationship based upon an understanding of the customer.
• Basic knowledge of Project Management to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria) to establish clear goals and accountabilities.
• Demonstrated capacity to capture meaningful data which in turn can be used to inform resource planning and business metrics.
• Adaptability and flexibility –willing to work on a variety of projects and perform in multiple roles.
• Budgeting and financial management.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.
• Good reporting skills.
• High level of attention to detail
• Team player with the ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple parties.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for all safety and environmental issues on-board
• SAFO has ultimate authority, as delegated by OIM, to halt any maintenance job that breaches established safety limits, irrespective of if under PTW or routine procedure, and if permanent crew, Client, or subcontractors involved.
• Act as Assistant Mooring on-board export tankers.
• May act as HLO as required.

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• To be familiar with rules, regulations, and work procedures applicable to the task to be executed.
• Manage Permit to Work system on the unit.
• Monitors condition and ensures maintenance of all safety equipment.
• Organises and convenes safety meetings, safety committee meetings, accident prevention committee meetings and prepares minutes of meeting.
• Monitors waste and hazardous material management systems on-board
• Manage oil and chemical spill clean-up equipment.
• Manage pollution response.
• Monitor all on-board equipment, systems, and procedures to reduce risks for pollution.
• Manages on-board training system and safety drills, including debriefing.
• Manages safety reporting system on the unit.
• Monitor all gas and oxygen-measuring equipment is well maintained and calibrated as per manufactures instruction and that personal assigned to use the equipment are fully trained and supervised.
• Be familiar with H2S hazards and monitor H2S content.
• Upgrade safe work procedures on board as deemed necessary.
• Ensure that personnel executing hazardous work are trained and fully informed of the work procedures and/or quality plans and that they are complied with.
• Monitors crane operations
• Delegated authority from OIM to ensure that only certified and tested cargo gears in best and approved working order are used for lifting and personnel transport.
• Monitors that boat traffic and supply boat operations are well controlled, carried out efficiently and safely.
• Manage export hose connection/disconnection on export tanker.
• Manage Mooring Hawsers connection/disconnection on export tanker.

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor crew lists, and other documentation related to FPSO people movement.
• Liaise with OIM regarding the unit’s security plan.

CERTIFICATES AND TRAINING

• Chief Mate Certificate – STCW95 Reg. II/2 and flag state endorsement of recognition.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Meet requirements for certification as an officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more and have at least 12 months approved seagoing service in that capacity.
• Have completed approved education and training and meet the standard of competence specified in section A-II/2 of the STCW code for chief mates on ships of 3000 gross tonnage or more.
• Excellent command in English written and spoken.
