    Community Support Worker / Psychosocial Animator

    Location: Goronyo & Rabah LGA - Sokoto

    Background

    • Under theBHA (Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance) project, COOPI will be implementing WASH, Protection, and Multi-purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) activities inSokoto state covering Goronyo and Rabah Local Government Area.
    • The consortium will provide immediate humanitarian assistance to displaced populations in IDP camps, through an area-based approach and integrated multisectoral intervention in health, nutrition, WASH, MPCA, and protection, in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina states through a coordinated approach with the state government and other key actors in North West Nigeria.

    Job Summary

    • The Community Support Worker/Psychosocial Support (PSS) Animator will support the implementation of the Protection and psychosocial Support activities, WASH activities and CFF activities in the project locations.

    Main Duties / Responsibilities Protection Sector
    Under the direct supervision of theChild Protection Officer and indirectly to the Protection Sector Lead and Deputy Project Manager and in collaboration with Protection Assistants and other collaborators of the projects and of the Base, he/she will;

    • Support the PSS Counselor and outreach team (case workers and case worker supervisor) in mapping and assessing children to attend PSS activities.
    • Register and enroll children in psychosocial support activities
    • Work directly with children, carrying out psychosocial activities.
    • Plan, organize and run activities with children while facilitate and encourage the participation of all children
    • Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of Child Protection and confidentiality, working with IDPs and host communities with sensitivity
    • Carry out awareness sessions on child rights in the community, IDPs camps, primary schools, Child Friendly Spaces, Youth Clubs
    • Facilitate peer and groups support
    • Conduct life skills and art therapy training for teenagers (Adolescent and Youth 13 to 18 Years)
    • Conduct parent-child communication sessions with parents and teachers.
    • Plan, organize and run activities with children while facilitate and encourage the participation of all registered children.
    • Deal with difficult behavior (conflict, aggressiveness, power drunk and introversion) and understand the reason behind the behavior to positively communicate with the situation.
    • Ensure that children under his / her Responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities.
    • Put in place protection / child protection activities with children and adult according to the workplan
    • Organizes recreational activities and community events to promote access to education and child’s rights Candidate (Education, Training, Competences, Skills), with a special focus on IDP children.
    • Performs any other necessary action related to the position to achieve the objectives of the project and of COOPI in Nigeria if requested by the Team Leader
    • Upholds COOPI’s mission and Charter of Values;
    • Follows and enforces all COOPI codes of conduct and policies (globally and in-country);
    • Perform any other action related with the position needed to achieve the objectives of the projects and of COOPI Nigeria if requested by his/her supervisor.
    • Main Duties / Responsibilities WASH Sector

    Other functions that might be required of from the CSW includes;

    • The community support worker to support the WASH Team during training in the field in IDP camps project locations
    • To support the WASH Team during NFI’s registration and distribution
    • To support in the mobilzation of beneficiaries in the field for the smooth implementation of WASH activities
    • To support in the activities of hygiene promotion among beneficiaries in the IDP camps / project communities
    • To support the WASH Team in field level supervision in the IDP camps / project communities
    • Main Duties / Responsibilities MPCA Sector
    • The community support workers to support the CFF Team on beneficiaries targeting and verification
    • To support the CFF Team on awareness raising and sensitization of beneficiaries in IDP Camps/project communities
    • To monitor cash disbursal in IDP Camps/project communities.
    • To support the team in tracking beneficiary complaints.
    • To support the team in regular coordination meetings with CBTCs and other relevant stakeholders

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of National (ND) / National Certificate of Education (NCE) from any relevant discipline.
    • A deep knowledge of the context and project communities
    • Ability to coordinate, organize and mobilize
    • Ability to communicate in the local language
    • Must be based in Goronyo and Rabah LGAs and be a TEAM PLAYER.

    Cash for Food Assistant

    Job Description

    • The consortium will provide immediate humanitarian assistance to displaced populations in IDP camps, through an area-based approach and integrated multi sectoral intervention in health, nutrition, WASH, CFF, and protection, in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina states through a coordinated approach with the state government and other key actors in North West Nigeria.

    Scope

    • The CFF Assistant will provide support to multi-sectorial intervention towards IDPs in NW Nigeria, in the design, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of Cash program by managing data and facilitating program implementation at the state level, under the guidance and direct supervision of the CFF Sector Lead.
    • The CFF Assistant will be responsible for the implementation of BHA funded multi-sectoral grant via CFF in Sokoto state. Focusing on IDPs and vulnerable host communities.
    • The CFF assistant will ensure the distribution, monitoring, and mobilization of the community to encourage their participation in the distribution activities.
    • The CFF Assistant will be responsible for data gathering, analysis, and reporting activities. S/he will assist in tracking the progress of key indicators and provide timely reports to the CFF Sector Lead, DPM and AreaCo.

    Main Responsibilities and Tasks
    Under the direct supervision of the Cash for Food Sector Lead , she/he will:

    • Ensures high-quality cash transfer programming in line with generally accepted standards, and supports the operation and implementation of cash transfer programming.
    • Monitor redemption process in vendor’s shops.
    • Participants in conducting post-distribution monitoring (PDM) and market price monitoring (MPM).
    • Actively participates in targeting, registration and card distribution
    • Assist the CFF Sector Lead in writing monthly report.
    • Mobilize and sensitize project participants on monthly basis before every redemption.
    • Timely prepare and submit field reports.
    • Properly engage with stakeholders in conformity with COOPI core value.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or her/his designate.
    • Maintenance of an effective record and filing system for all distribution data, registers and records including correspondences and other related documents for quick and easy reference.
    • Report any issue that needs immediate action to the CFF Sector Lead and Field Coordinator and follow up on the resolution of such issues.
    • Conduct verification and screening of the non-beneficiaries who want to be included in the program. Check their documentation and communicate their names to the Data Tally Clerk to avoid duplications.
    • Supervising the Community Mobilisers, daily laborers and volunteers.
    • Conduct verification of beneficiaries at the distribution point, ensuring that rations are distributed only to the entitled and registered beneficiaries.
    • Conduct registration of new beneficiaries, ensuring accountability by checking the documentation provided by the beneficiary and by issuing accurate ration cards.
    • Participate in the field work of surveys, Baselines, Mid-term Reviews, and end line.
    • Work with program teams to ensure COOPI information on program activities is shared within LGAs and provide for beneficiary feedback in line with relevant guidelines and frameworks
    • Collaborate with government and humanitarian partners to ensure the smooth sharing of information in consultation with the CFF Sector Lead/Field Coordinator/Program Manager
    • This ToR shall be inclusive of any other task specifically assigned by the direct supervisor for what concerns the implementation of the program activities.

    Profile of the Candidate (Education, Training, Competences, Skills)

    • Minimum Requirements:
      • Degree / Diploma in Agricultural, Nutrition, Economics, Rural Development, Development Studies, or related academic disciplines, with previous experience working in developmental and emergency projects
      • At least 2-3 years of experience in connection with project management in the food security and/or livelihood sector, preferably in a non-governmental organization of humanitarian and international character.
      • Previous experience working with an INGO or a Development organization in FSL/ CTP in the field is preferable.
    • Skills & Experience Essential:
      • Be excellent in communication skills and proficient in report writing
      • Be resident and familiar with the terrain in Northwest Nigeria.
      • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programming (Access, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
    • Preferred:
      • Knowledge of the local language (Hausa).
      • Proficient in data collection and handling bulk registers of beneficiaries.
