    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Lead, supervise, mentor, coach and evaluate engagement teams on financial audits of Energy, Utilities & mining companies using International Standards on Auditing (ISA)
    • Lead accounting Advisory and other Assurance Engagements.
    • Serve as effective liaison and representative between the firm and the client.
    • Work harmoniously and productively within a team; providing necessary supports to superior and motivate less experienced team members to deliver their work in the most efficient and effective manner.
    • Exercise sound judgment by making decisions throughout the engagement, including assessment of engagement risks, design and selection of audit procedures necessary to arrive at a desired level of assurance, and evaluation of documentation and audit evidence received.
    • Preparation and 1st level review of complex consolidated IFRS financial statements.
    • Work with partners and engagement managers regarding project management, including scheduling, staffing, and the engagement budget.
    • Proactively interact with key client’s management to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
    • Assist with business development activities, such as proposals, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials.
    • Demonstrate professional demeanor towards duties and responsibilities, particularly with regard to independence, professional ethics, and the exercise of professional judgment.

    Requirements

    • ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
    • Must be working or have worked in a consulting/Audit firm - with 4 - 5 years professional experience in external audit of organizations in the Energy, Utilities & Mining sector
    • Have deep technical knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant International Financial Reporting Standards
    • Demonstrate an understanding of regulatory pronouncements that are applicable to Energy, Utilities & Mining companies
    • Focused and initiative driven (required to maximize growth potential)
    • A passion for delivering an exceptional client service
    • Good analytical and organizational abilities
    • A proven track record of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients
    • Effective communication skills when working at all levels

    Job Summary

    • The Audit Associate will be responsible for learning and applying technical skills and working as part of an engagement team carrying out the audit of companies in the Energy, Utilities and Mining industry, under the supervision of Audit Seniors and Audit Managers.

    Job Roles and Responsibilities

    • Establish working knowledge of the client’s accounting procedures and processes.
    • Evaluate internal control systems and policies and procedures; making recommendations for improvements
    • Performing substantive tests and tests of controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues
    • Identify any accounting or audit issues and perform the necessary research to resolve such issues
    • Prepares all financial statements and work papers (to include schedules, analyses, and memos)
    • Provide recommendations for strengthening internal controls and business efficiency.
    • Providing coaching to less experienced team members on engagements and helping them settle into their roles in the firm.
    • Lead small engagement team with responsibility for on-field team activities, coaching and supervision
    • Effectively organize and chair team and client meetings

    • PricewaterhouseCoopers (Nigeria) Limited (PwC) has been contracted by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to provide Local Fund Agent (LFA) services in Nigeria. PwC employs a designated team of experts to provide LFA services, consisting of a Team Leader, a Senior Finance Professional, a Senior Public Health and M&E Expert, two Junior Finance Professionals and a Junior Procurement Expert .PwC is now seeking to expand its LFA team with a Junior Public Health and M&E Expert.

    Aim of the Job

    • To assist the PwC LFA Team Leader and the Public Health and M&E Expert in providing services in the areas of Public Health and Monitoring and Evaluation within the context of PwC’s mandate as Local Fund Agent (LFA) for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).
    • This can be extended in case PwC will be successful in securing additional mandates, either as the LFA in other countries in the region or in the context of services provided to other clients.

    Main Tasks

    • The Junior Public Health and M&E Expert will assist the PwC Public Health and M&E Expert in the following tasks:
      • Critical review of Progress Updates and Disbursement Requests (PU/DRs) submitted by the Principal Recipients (PRs),
      • Assessment of the Monitoring and Evaluation capacity of Principal Recipients (PR Assessment or Repeat PR Assessment);
      • Review of documents as part of pre-Grant signing and as part of Requests for Continued Funding (Phase 2 Assessments), in particular review of proposed Performance Frameworks and Work Plans and Budgets and with emphasis on the relevance of proposed indicators and activities and the reasonableness of proposed targets;
      • Review of close-out documents such as Close-Out Workplan and Budgets and Grant Closure Reports, with emphasis on relevance of proposed activities and on monitoring of the implementation of approved activities;
      • Design, implement and report programmatic spot-checks; and
      • Ad hoc tasks requested by the Global Fund, such as verification of training events, meetings, supervision visits, etc.
      • Any other tasks as requested by the PwC LFA Team Leader for Nigeria.

    Links / Supervision:

    • The Junior Public Health and M&E Expert will work in PwC Nigeria in Abuja office, with regular visits to the field (provinces, districts, health facilities and villages).

    The Junior Public Health and M&E Expert will work:

    • Under close / day-to-day supervision of the PwC Public Health and M&E Expert;
    • Under the management of the PwC LFA Team Leader as far technical matters are concerned; and
    • Under the overall management of the PwC Partner.

    The Junior Public Health and M&E Expert will work as a member of the PwC LFA Team and will interact with the other team members.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Public Health
    • Three years of experience in monitoring and evaluation of a public health project / programme
    • Good knowledge of the health sector in Nigeria
    • Good command of English and good computer skills
    • Good communication skills and commitment to teamwork.

    Although knowledge of and previous experience with Global Fund will be considered as an advantage, PwC will need to ensure the absence of any conflict of interest.

    Roles & responsibilities

    Requirements

    • At least 3 years of experience should be at a managerial role
    • ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
    • Must be working in a consulting/Audit firm – minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in external audit of organisations in the financial services sector (e.g. Banks, insurance companies and Pension funds),
    • Demonstrate an understanding of regulatory pronouncements that are applicable to banks, Investment companies and other Financial services companies
    • IFRS knowledge and experience is required; broad ranging audit experience including planning, managing and completing a diverse range of engagements and committed to meet tight timelines;
    • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills and organizational abilities;
    • A proven record of establishing and sustaining strong client relationships and good interpersonal skills; proactive in responding to clients' problems and strong business awareness to maximize any possible business opportunities
