    Biomed Technician

    Main Purpose

    • Performing autonomously and following up, the maintenance and correct repair of the biomed equipment in the project/mission and ensuring regularly that the usual medical maintenance and cleaning are done properly according to MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure the equipment are in perfect running conditions

    Accountabilities

    • Performing and carrying out, all necessary complex / advanced installation, maintenance and repair of MSF biomedical equipment and ensuring that as few items are out of service at any given time. This inclues the following tasks: 
      • Organizing and participating in the installation of biomedical equipment
      • Through MEMO Software, follow the schedule and carrying out Preventive and Corrective Maintenance works for the Equipment according to the MSF and/or manufacturer's protocols, manuals, and recommendations and ensuring that cleaning and simple maintenance are properly carried out by medical staff.
      • Reporting any issues or problems on biomed equipment to his/her supervisor and proposing solutions (training of staff on a device, operating procedures, etc.). If maintenance work requires further assistance, documentation or additional tools, this shall be requested from and provided by his/her supervisor.
      • Participating in organizing user training where required for both Medical and Non-Medical Staff.
    • Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, and avoiding any shortage.
    • Conducting physical monthly Inventory of all Biomed Equipment in all locations and updating in MEMO.
    • Responsible for the Equipment and Tools (excluding Extinguishers), checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary, and keeping the inventory updated.
    • Keeping the working area clean and tidy.
    • Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to maintenance are always completed (including date of intervention, replaced parts, problems and solutions) and preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
    • Working together with the Pharmacy Team, responsible for generating and ordering the biomed equipment and consumables International Order.
    • Testing and Installation of new biomed equipment in the Hospital Wards and ensuring it is functioning in accordance to medical protocols.

    Minimum Requirements
    Education:

    • A Diploma as a Biomedical technician preferred
    • Diploma as a Mechanical or electrical technician
    • Demonstrable technical skills and understanding

    Experience:

    • Experience in a technical field. (Minimum 2 years' experience)
    • Pedagogical skills are an asset

    Languages:

    • Mission language English)  and local language essential (Hausa)

    Specialized Technician (Electrician)

    Main Purpose

    • Performing autonomously, specific complex / advanced installation, maintenance works and repairs depending on technician’s specialization (requiring special/qualifications/training), according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures

    Accountabilities
    Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:  Quality and Standard Electrical Works.
    • Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
    • Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
    • Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
    • Keeping working area clean and tidy.
    • Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
    • Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins
    • Working in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
    • Ensuring all electrical installations in MSF facilities comply with MSF standards and performing autonomously and ensuring, all necessary complex / advanced electrical installations, maintenance and repairs, according to the supervisor’s instructions. This includes the following tasks :
    • Carrying out critical rehabilitation tasks and corrective maintenance interventions and the coordination and execution of required tasks as well as installation of needed electrical equipment as defined by each project. Elaborating the necessary documentation for carrying out energy installations projects (plans, list of materials, etc.)
    • Carryingout and updating the electrical installations inventory in MSF missions’ facilities and performing annual maintenance procedures and safety checks across facilities in the project. Executing any needed tests after any repair or maintenance.

    Minimum Requirements
    Education:

    • Technical Diploma or University Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering. is essential.
    • Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is essential.

    Experience:

    • Practical/hands-on experience in electrical designs, electrical wiring, electrical installation is essential (minimum 2 years’ experience).
    • Essential at least two years of previous working experience. Desirable in MSF or other NGOs

    Languages:

    Consultant Psychologist

    Main Purpose

    • The psychologist / psychiatric consultant will be providing Staff Care Unit will cooperate providing psychosocial support to the teams, either in individual or in group sessions.
    • The psychologist will have direct communication and will depend functionally on the Staff Care Unit (psy support), and hierarchically of the medical coordination in the mission.

    Job Description

    • To provide mental health support to MSF, national staff either in group or individual sessions at the field level and coordination.
    • Visiting MSF projects in Zamfara state to provide Mental health and psychosocial support to staff.
    • In case of an urgent need, provide psychological support to the national staff members affected (group and individual debriefing) when delegated by the Staff Care Unit.
    • Employing an empathetic and non-judgmental clinical approach in carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of MSF Spain staff and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment.
    • Identify the major stressors to staff in the projects and recommend possible solutions to medical coordination and project medical referent.
    • Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF protocols to improve the mental health conditions of MSF Nigeria staff.
    • Developing and sharing tools for psychosocial and mental health interventions.
    • Developing and facilitating workshops and trainings relevant to psycho-social issues the teams are facing in the field such as stress management, psychological first aid, vicarious trauma, burnout, and trauma.
    • Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary to enhance the scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators to ensure appropriate terminology and behavior during sessions.
    • Collecting and reporting statistical and monitoring data about staff support activities.
    • Providing immediate MHPSS intervention in case of a critical incident within the mission.
    • Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • Essential Degree or Diploma in Psychology.

    Experience:

    • Essential 5 years experience minimum as a psychologist.
    • Essential clinical experience.
    • Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.

    Language:

    • Mission language is essential.
    • Local language desirable.

    Knowledge:

    • Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and internet).

    Salary

    • Consultancy Fee: Level 10 + Allowance
    • According to MSF National Salary Scale
