    Human Resources Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement HR policies that promote fairness, inclusivity, safeguarding, and staff well-being.
    • Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes, ensuring diversity and equal opportunity.
    • Oversee training and professional development initiatives for staff capacity building.
    • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws, donor requirements, and internal HR policies.
    • Manage payroll, benefits administration, and staff welfare programs.
    • Provide HR support during project implementation and emergency responses.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and respect across all BOWDI teams.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s/MBA is an advantage).
    • Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, ACIHRM, or equivalent).
    • Minimum of 5 years progressive HR experience, preferably within the NGO/humanitarian sector.
    • Strong knowledge of labor laws, donor compliance, safeguarding, and protection principles.
    • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and cross-cultural communication skills.

    Legal Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Legal Officer will oversee legal affairs, draft and review agreements, ensure regulatory compliance, and support BOWDI’s advocacy efforts on gender rights, protection, and development. This role requires strong knowledge of Nigerian laws, excellent drafting skills, and a passion for social impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide legal advice and support on survivors wellbeing.
    • Draft, review, and interpret contracts, MoUs, and other legal documents.
    • Ensure compliance with Nigerian laws, regulatory requirements, and donor guidelines.
    • Support policy development, safeguarding frameworks, and governance structures.
    • Represent the organization in legal proceedings when necessary.
    • Support advocacy and legal awareness initiatives, particularly around women’s rights and protection.
    • Maintain updated statutory records and ensure timely filings with relevant authorities.
    • Provide training staff on compliance, contracts, and organizational policies.

    Qualifications & Requirement

    • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
    • Must hold an active and valid license to practice law in Nigeria (Nigerian Bar Association membership).
    • Minimum of 3–5 years post-call experience in legal practice or as an in-house counsel (NGO/Development sector experience an advantage).
    • Strong knowledge of corporate, labor, and NGO regulatory laws in Nigeria.
    • Experience in drafting, vetting, and managing contracts.
    • Understand GBV survivor centered approach.
    • Demonstrated commitment to human rights, gender equality, and social justice.
    • Excellent communication, research, and negotiation skills.
    • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

    Protection Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Protection Officer will be responsible for leading protection activities, including case management, awareness campaigns, community engagement, and referrals. The role requires strong knowledge of protection principles, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, and humanitarian standards, with the ability to work closely with communities and stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement protection activities in line with BOWDI’s mission and donor requirements.
    • Supervise case management, psychosocial support, and facilitate referrals for vulnerable individuals.
    • Organize community sensitization, awareness, and training sessions on protection, rights, and safeguarding.
    • Monitor and report protection risks, incidents, and trends in the community.
    • Work with partners, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen protection mechanisms.
    • Ensure adherence to protection principles, including confidentiality, safety, and dignity of beneficiaries.
    • Support in developing and disseminating Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
    • Prepare timely and accurate reports on protection activities.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Law, Psychology, Development Studies, or related field.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in protection, GBV, child protection, or humanitarian programming (NGO/INGO experience is an advantage).
    • Strong understanding of protection principles, human rights, gender, and safeguarding.
    • Experience in community engagement, case management, and referral pathways.
    • Good knowledge of Nigerian humanitarian context, especially in conflict-affected areas.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
    • Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa, Kanuri, or other local languages is an asset.
    • High level of integrity, empathy, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
