Job Overview

• We are seeking a highly talented and dedicated Assistant Audit Manager to join our team.
• The successful candidate is responsible for leading audit teams during the planning, execution, and reporting phases of audit engagements.
• This role supports the Audit Manager by overseeing daily operations, supervising junior staff, and ensuring that all audit work complies with professional standards and client requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Audit Manager in developing effective audit strategies and plans, including risk assessments.
• Plan, scope, and budget individual audit activities to ensure completion within established deadlines.
• Lead audit teams during fieldwork, ensuring quality standards are met throughout the engagement.
• Perform detailed testing and analysis of financial data, transactions, and internal controls to identify any errors, anomalies, or risks.
• Review financial statements and other data to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards, such as IFRS etc
• Client and stakeholder communication and management
• Team leadership and supervision
• Perform other related duties as determined by Management from time to time.

Qualifications and skills

• B.Sc / HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Relevant work experience, often 5 – 8 years, in an external audit environment.
• Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, etc.

Technical & Soft skills:

• Strong knowledge of auditing techniques, accounting standards -GAAP,IFRS etc.
• Proficiency with auditing software and data analytic tools.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
• A meticulous attention to detail and a high level of professional skepticism.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

• The successful candidate oversees the daily operations of an audit engagement, ensuring that fieldwork is executed effectively, and audit staff adhere to professional and company standards.
• This role requires a combination of technical accounting expertise, strong leadership, and hands-on management to guarantee high-quality and timely audit delivery

Requirements

• Lead the day-to-day operations of an audit engagement from planning through reporting.
• Review audit work-papers and documentation prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clarity.
• Ensure that all audit work complies with established auditing standards and internal guidelines, and is completed within allocated time-frames.
• Identify control deficiencies, accounting issues, and risks during the audit and develop recommendations for improvement.
• Execute audit tests on high-risk or complex areas and analyze financial data for accuracy and irregularities
• Carryout team supervision and development
• Regular client communication and management
• Carryout technical and administrative tasks
• Perform other related duties as determined by Management from time to time.

Requirements

• BSc/HND in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
• Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, etc.
• 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in an auditing role, including experience leading audit fieldwork in an external audit environment.

Technical & Soft skills:

• Deep knowledge of auditing methodologies, standards (IFRS, GAAP), and risk management practices.
• Proficiency with auditing software (e.g., Caseware, TeamMate) and data analysis tools like Excel, Power BI,etc.
• Experience with relevant accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Soft skills
• Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and client interaction.
