About Newland School
Our pupils continue to perform well in all academic areas especially in Numeracy, Literacy, Information Technology and Science. There have been noticeable improvements in the school in these subjects. We continuously review the subjects, the idea being to gain a better understanding of how we deliver and how the pupils cope with these subjects, across all year groups and classes in the school.
These reviews have allowed us to make minor but important adjustments to all aspects of the subjects and our teaching.
We have also gained further insights into our school from feedback from our regular parent questions and surveys during Parent Conference Days and Communication Meetings.
WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO IMPROVE?
As well as consolidating improvements and standards made in specific areas we hope to increase both the 'hardware’ provision by further developing and expanding our ICT suite / lab and also the use of projectors. We are also making plans to accommodate changes to the way we will teach Numeracy and Literacy as a result of the improved curriculum plans and materials.
Our pupils continue to make good progress, from entry into our school. Our performance confirms and places us in the top schools in Lagos, Nigeria. This is a position that pupils, teachers and the Board of Directors at Newland School can justifiably be proud.
Winning the National Total Quality School of the year 2009 is a testament to this.
As we continue to review our curriculum in order to sustain the improvements, the trend in our performance has been a most positive one and one that we hope to sustain.
