    Waste Management Specialist

    Job Description

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Help to or develop/implement regional or national waste management programs.
    • Understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory processes and requirements
    • Develop waste management, soil management, and in situ sampling and analysis plans
    • Understand waste sampling and analysis requirements for characterization, management, and off-site transportation and disposal of process, investigation and/or remediation wastes
    • Complete waste determinations, including familiarity with listed waste and the contained-in and good-faith demonstration process
    • Formulate waste sampling and analysis strategies
    • Interpret regulations and develop options for complex waste management situations.
    • Develop client relationships to provide ongoing waste management compliance support
    • Review and preparation of subcontracts, review of invoices and cost proposals, and coordination of subcontractor scheduling
    • Provide guidance/procedures to field teams on proper waste characterization sampling.
    • Understand Health and Safety concerns specific to waste management
    • Prepare agency waste notifications, annual/biennial reports, state specific reports and maintenance of required records
    • Conduct site visits for data collection, weekly container inspections, waste compliance assessments and pre-demolition waste inventories
    • Complete, track, update, and renew waste profiles and complete manifests for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste shipments

    Qualifications

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, waste management, sustainability, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of waste management regulations, policies, and best practices.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
    • Familiarity with waste management technologies and practices.
    • Certification or training in hazardous waste management (preferred).
    • Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software for waste mapping and analysis (preferred).

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)

    • Capability to manage and waste management projects.
    • In-depth knowledge of waste management principles.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Creativity and out of the box thinking.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, industry trends, and technological
