    Truck Mechanics

    Our company,a leading haulage organization is looking to engage the services of an experienced haulage mechanic who is responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance and repairs of trucks to ensure trucks are at their optimum at all times and prevent breakdown.

    KEY RESPONISIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

    ·         Perform routine maintenance on trucks, such as checking batteries and changing oil to ensure trucks are running properly

    • Inspect various parts of trucks, including brake systems, wheel bearings and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively
    • Use different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists and jacks, to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions
    • Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devises such as motor analyzers, handheld computers and chassis charts to determine how to address problems
    • Efficiently and accurately perform repair work as outlined in job card following exact dealership and factory standards.
    • Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine solutions.
    • Replace parts, valves, bearings and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems
    • Measure vehicle emissions to ensure they are in the proper limits
    • Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions

    ·          Report vehicle non-compliances per inspections for fleet managers to exert appropriate sanctions on drivers

    ·         Make requisition for parts, computes work orders, and prepares service records and reports as required.

    • Properly use and manage work tools to ensure their durability

    ·         Any other related tasks as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of SSCE
    • Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair is an added advantage
    • Minimum 3 years of working experience in a similar position
    • Knowledge in the diagnosis and repair of automotive or heavy equipment.

    • Must be conversant with DAf truck, Man diesel, Howo Scania and Mercedes.

    •  Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake system
