    Technical Standards & Compliance Desk Officer

    • The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) is seeking to appoint a highly qualified and experienced professional to the position of Technical Standards & Compliance (RTSC) Desk Officer.
    • This role has been specifically designed to provide coordination in the effective implementation of technical standards and conformity assessment (S&CA) frameworks across the renewable energy sector in Nigeria, in full alignment with REAN’s implementation plan and strategic objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Technical Standards Implementation

    • Serve as the central coordination point for all matters relating to technical standards and conformity assessment within REAN.
    • Operate the REAN Technical Standards & Compliance Desk.
    • Provide expert technical advisory services on applicable national, regional, and international renewable energy standards.
    • Develop simplified toolkits, compliance templates, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to facilitate members’ understanding, application, and use of approved standards.
    • Support the REAN Technical Standards Committee (RTSC) in all technical and operational functions.
    • Issue periodic technical bulletins and advisories summarizing REAN-approved standards and emerging regulatory requirements.
    • Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring
    • Design, establish, and maintain a comprehensive compliance tracking database for REAN members.
    • Compile and analyze post-market and post-installation surveillance data.
    • Prepare and present quarterly (or periodic) compliance dashboards and detailed reports to REAN management and the RTSC.
    • Identify compliance gaps and recommend evidence-based corrective actions and targeted support interventions.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Representation

    • Organize quarterly technical round-table discussions with members and relevant stakeholders.
    • Act as the official technical liaison with key regulatory bodies, including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Nigerian Electrotechnical and Mechanical Services Agency (NEMSA), Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and Nigerian Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) on conformity assessment matters.
    • Coordinate and facilitate pre-certification clinics for REAN members.
    • Participate in national and regional standards development committees and technical working groups.
    • Capacity Development and Knowledge Management
    • Support the management of the REAN Standards Learning Hub and the central online repository of standards-related resources.
    • Support the design and rollout of training programs and mandatory certification initiatives for members.
    • Document, curate, and disseminate case studies and success stories from compliant member organizations.

    Administrative and Strategic Support

    • Prepare high-quality technical memoranda, reports, and presentations for the Secretariat, RTSC and the Executive Committee.
    • Engage in resource mobilization efforts and the development of funding proposals related to standards and conformity assessment.
    • Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team (where applicable) to track and report on key performance indicators linked to standards implementation.

    • Strengthening REAN’s reputation and credibility as a standards-driven professional association.
    • Significantly enhancing member-compliance levels, product quality, and consumer confidence in the Nigerian renewable energy market.
    • Positioning REAN as one of the technical reference bodies for government agencies, development partners, financiers, and investors.
    • Establishing REAN as the organization of reference in the renewable energy sector at national and international levels.

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    Educational Background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, Mechanical, or related fields).
    • A Master’s degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Standards & Quality Management, or related technical discipline is an added advantage.
    • Professional certifications in Quality Assurance, Standards Development, Conformity Assessment, ISO Systems, or related technical fields are highly desirable.
    • Technical Skills & Competencies
    • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies (solar PV, SHS, mini-grid, hybrid systems, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of national and international standards (SON, IEC, ISO, NEMSA, REA standards, etc.).
    • Demonstrated experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical toolkits, and compliance frameworks.
    • Experience in post-market/installation surveillance and quality assurance monitoring.
    • Ability to analyze technical data and prepare compliance dashboards, reports, and advisories.
    • Familiarity with Conformity Assessment (CA) procedures and regulatory compliance pathways.
    • Strong documentation skills for generating advisories, bulletins, memos, presentations, and compliance guidance notes.

    Professional Experience

    • Minimum of 3–5 years experience in technical standards, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or renewable energy project implementation.
    • Experience working with standards development bodies, regulatory agencies, or industry associations is a strong advantage.
    • Prior involvement in stakeholder engagement, technical working groups, or committee participation is preferable.
