Steel Fixer / Iron Bender at Ascentech Services Limited

Job Summary

• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Steel Fixer (Iron Bender) to join our construction team in Ikoyi, Lagos.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting, bending, assembling, and installing steel reinforcement for reinforced concrete structures in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) to determine reinforcement requirements.
• Measure, cut, bend, and assemble reinforcement steel bars according to project specifications.
• Install and secure reinforcing steel for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, staircases, and other reinforced concrete structures.
• Tie reinforcement bars using binding wire and ensure correct spacing and positioning before concrete placement.
• Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, carpenters, and other construction personnel to ensure project quality and timely completion.
• Inspect reinforcement work to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and construction regulations.
• Operate and maintain steel cutting and bending equipment safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of an SSCE, Trade Test Certificate, or relevant vocational qualification.
• Proven experience as a Steel Fixer (Iron Bender) in building or civil construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS).
• Good knowledge of reinforcement fixing techniques and construction methods.
• Experience using steel cutting, bending, and fixing tools and equipment.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety practices.
