Senior Scientific Specialist at a Reputable Company

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Scientific Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to advancing our corporate objectives and research initiatives in genetics, chemistry and toxicology and driving strategic scientific innovation in a niche environment. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of the various scientific and analytical techniques in chemistry, toxicology and genetics such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy, Atomic absorption spectrophotometry etc. and possess a proven ability to lead and inspire a team of analyst.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Scientific Specialist you would be required to apply your scientific expertise, training, and experience into achieving set goals and objectives. You would be expected to

• Conceptualize, lead and manage research projects in the fields of genetics, toxicology, medical, biological, or analytical sciences.
• Develop and implement strategic research plans to advance our corporate objectives.
• Conduct high-quality research and publish findings in high-impact scientific journals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate scientific research with organizational objectives and provide expert support to clientele on major projects.
• Mentor and guide junior researchers/analyst, fostering a culture of scientific excellence.
• Monitor and evaluate research performance, ensuring the achievement of project milestones.
• Identify and develop training and capacity-building needs in technical sciences and the use of analytical equipment and protocols for clientele (public & private sector).
• Manage corporate projects from concept to completion, including budgetary preparation, equipment sourcing, installation, operation, maintenance, and clientele staff training.
• Facilitate smooth work interaction and information flow among stakeholders (clients, colleagues, experts, and external collaborators).
• Coordinate, control, and supervise project execution, ensuring completion within timeframe, scope, and budget.
• Travel to multiple locations across Nigeria/abroad to support technical capacity-building initiatives and programs.
• Provide support to the development of a sister company set up to provide innovative scientific solutions to critical sectors in Nigeria.
• Stay updated on the latest scientific analytical techniques and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degrees and Master’s degree in Medical, Applied and Life Sciences, or related/relevant scientific field.
• PhD in a Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Analytical Sciences, or related field is desirable.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience in a research-oriented role.
• Preferred age range: 30-40 years old.
• Preferably male.
• Extensive publication record in high-impact journals, demonstrating a strong research background.
• Proficiency in various scientific and analytical techniques in chemistry, toxicology and genetics such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy, Atomic absorption spectrophotometry, DNA analysis etc.
• Proven track record of performance and achievement in scientific research.
• Exceptional managerial skills with experience in leading and managing research teams.
• Strong strategic thinking abilities and the capacity to drive scientific innovation.
• Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
• Exceptional attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive, positive, energetic, can-do, result oriented attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
