    Senior Planning Engineer

    About the job

    • The Senior Planning Engineer plays a critical role in the successful delivery of projects by developing and managing comprehensive project schedules. The position involves close coordination with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, and contractors to ensure timelines are realistic, aligned with project goals, and proactively managed. The Senior Planning Engineer also contributes to risk assessment, performance analysis, and project reporting.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
    • Participate in project planning and scheduling workshops and reviews.
    • Support project teams in defining work breakdown structures (WBS), activity sequencing, and durations.
    • Perform schedule analysis including critical path, float, and risk assessments.
    • Update and monitor project progress, identifying variances and proposing corrective actions.
    • Prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with cost engineers, procurement, and construction teams to align schedule and cost data.
    • Assist in change control and impact analysis related to schedule deviations or scope changes.
    • Implement earned value management (EVM) to measure and report project performance.
    • Mentor junior planning staff and provide guidance on best practices and project standards.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Education:

    • B.SC. / B.Eng. / HND in Engineering

    Experience:

    • 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, or industrial projects.

    Skills:

    • Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and planning/scheduling software.
    • Solid understanding of critical path method (CPM), WBS, and EVM.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
