    Senior Laboratory Analyst

    Job Summary

    • Coordinate laboratory operations and ensure optimal performance, client satisfaction, and profitability
    • The role involves conducting complex analytical testing, maintaining laboratory standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading process improvements.

    Duties
    Laboratory Operations & Analytical Testing:

    • Plan and execute complex analytical and physical chemistry tests per SOPs.
    • Oversee sample collection, preparation, and analysis
    • Utilize advanced chemical knowledge and statistical tools to troubleshoot challenges.
    • Interpret, document, and review test results, ensuring compliance with standards.

    Quality Control & Compliance:

    • Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained
    • Maintain compliance with all standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
    • Ensure all reagents and solutions are prepared and stored as per SOPs.
    • Maintain laboratory accreditation with regulatory bodies (e.g., ISO, DPR, FMEnV, NESREA).

    Process Improvement & Leadership:

    • Identify and implement new technologies to enhance environmental chemistry and sampling.
    • Lead and mentor laboratory staff, providing technical guidance and training.
    • Review any changes to lab procedures and specifications.
    • Oversee process improvements and data quality initiatives.

    Team Management & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with environmental scientists to prioritize sample analysis.
    • Prepare and present analytical results to stakeholders.
    • Act as a technical expert for internal and external clients.
    • Motivate and hold employees accountable to performance objectives.

    General Duties:

    • Ensure strict adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
    • Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables and equipment.
    • Manage people and performance, taking decisive actions when necessary.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Subject to EnvironQuest’s conditions of employment.
    • Standard work schedule: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, minimum 8 hours/day).
    • Confidentiality: Employees must not disclose company/client data without written approval.

    Employees must work impartially, competently, and in accordance with the laboratory management system

    Skills
    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory software.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Advanced knowledge of laboratory instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR).
    • Experience in data interpretation, results reporting, and safety compliance.
    • Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.

    Soft Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively.
    • Leadership skills with team motivation and coaching abilities.
    • High attention to detail, accuracy, and good laboratory practices (GLP)

    Experience:
    Qualification:

    • BSc / MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
    • Minimum 6 - 8 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
    • Certifications in ISO 17025, GLP, or GMP (preferred).
    • Experience with regulatory compliance and quality assurance

    KPIs (Subject to Review):

    • Accuracy & Timeliness: % of tests completed within deadlines and with zero errors.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to ISO, HSE, and other relevant standards.
    • Process Efficiency: Reduction in non-conformities and lab downtime.
    • Team Leadership: Training hours completed for junior staff.
    • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from clients and internal teams

    Key Competencies:

    • Results reporting

    Desirable Competencies:

    • Advanced knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks independently and produce results within specified time frames.
