SuperTech Foods is on the lookout for a dedicated Rice Crop Out-grower Lead to spearhead our rice cultivation initiatives across multiple states, including Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, and Kaduna.
This role is instrumental in managing and supporting our network of smallholder farmers to boost rice production, improve sustainability, and ensure the highest agronomic standards.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of rice cultivation, a passion for agricultural development, and a commitment to empowering local farming communities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage rice cultivation projects with smallholder farmers, ensuring best practices in agronomy are implemented to maximize yield and sustainability.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with smallholder farmers, providing ongoing support, training, and guidance on best practices in rice crop management.
Coordinate with local and regional agricultural stakeholders to align efforts and maximize the impact of our rice cultivation projects.
Monitor and assess crop health and development, implementing mitigation strategies as needed to address pests, diseases, or other agronomic challenges.
Collect and analyze data on crop performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve future cultivation cycles.
Support the implementation of sustainable farming practices, promoting environmental stewardship among our out-grower network.
Facilitate the procurement and distribution of high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs to smallholder farmers.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in managing smallholder farmers.
In-depth knowledge of rice cultivation techniques, crop management practices, and sustainable agriculture principles.
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects across diverse geographical locations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with farmers, team members, and agricultural stakeholders.
