    Farm Control and Compliance Officer

    Overview

    The Farm Compliance & Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all farm operations, financial activities, and procurement processes adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and internal control policies. This role safeguards the farm’s assets, ensures transparency, and maintains readiness for tax audits and regulatory reviews.

    Key Responsibilities

    Procurement & Expenditure Verification

    • Review and validate all farm purchase requests, invoices, receipts, and supplier transactions.
    • Confirm that all purchases are necessary, correctly approved, and aligned with budget and procurement policies.
    • Track material usage and ensure no discrepancies between approved purchases and actual farm utilisation.

    Operational Compliance Monitoring

    • Conduct routine inspections across all farm units (livestock, crop production, storage, processing, etc.) to ensure adherence to SOPs.
    • Identify deviations or operational risks and recommend corrective actions to management.
    • Monitor staff compliance with safety, hygiene, and production standards.

    Tax Compliance & Record Keeping

    • Maintain accurate and complete financial and operational records to ensure readiness for tax audits.
    • Verify that all tax-related documentation (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.) is properly filed, updated, and compliant with statutory guidelines.
    • Work with finance or external accountants to ensure timely remittance of applicable taxes.

    Internal Control & Reporting

    • Implement and strengthen internal control systems across operational and financial processes.
    • Conduct periodic reviews of inventory, cash handling, payroll, and asset management.
    • Prepare compliance and control reports, highlighting gaps, risks, and recommendations for improvement.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Agricultural Management, Business Administration, or related field.
    • 2–4 years experience in internal control, compliance, audit, or farm operations (agric experience is an advantage).
    • Strong understanding of farm processes, procurement, and basic tax regulations.
    • Excellent documentation, analytical, and reporting skills.
    • High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to enforce standards professionally.
