    Revenue Officer – AIRS 012

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Taxation or Economics, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Public Administration and other relevant field of studies.
    • ACA/ACCA/CNA, or master’s degree is an added advantage.
    • 2-3 years of relevant experience in tax administration or revenue collection is required.
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential for accurate tax assessment and data interpretation.
    • Competency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite) and the ability to quickly learn the AIRS's internal software and relevant work tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with taxpayers and colleagues.
    • High moral and ethical standards, as the role involves handling sensitive financial information and public funds.
    • A basic understanding of Nigerian tax laws and public administration principles is expected.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitoring and coordinating the collection of various taxes and revenues due to the Anambra State Government.
    • This includes Personal Income Tax (PAYE and Direct Assessment), Withholding taxes, and others.
    • Performing field tax audits and investigations on corporate and individual taxpayers to verify compliance and prevent tax evasion.
    • This involves analysing financial statements to determine tax liabilities.
    • Counselling, advising, and educating taxpayers on their tax liabilities, responsibilities, and relevant tax laws and regulations to encourage voluntary compliance.
    • Following up on demand notices for outstanding liabilities and, when necessary, recommending legal action against non-compliant taxpayers.
    • Maintaining accurate records, managing taxpayer databases, securing financial documents, and preparing regular reports on remittances, compliance, and activities for management use.
    • Identifying and registering new individuals and businesses liable for tax to broaden the tax base of Anambra State by enrolling new individuals and businesses into the tax net, issuing unique Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs), and ensuring all taxpayer data is accurately captured and maintained within the AIRS database.
