    Relationship Manager, Client Coverage - Abuja

    Job Objective(s)

    • The Coverage Relationship Manager is responsible for ensuring effective client coverage by managing assigned portfolios, supporting business development activities, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring service delivery standards are consistently met. The role focuses on origination of new corporate and investment banking opportunities, client engagement and coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders. The Relationship Manager is expected to be familiar with the hospitality sector, manufacturing sector, Public Sector, large corporates, HNWIs/UHNWIs in the Abuja, Kano and South-South/South-East environs to deepen the share of wallet of existing relationships and originate new relationships in order to grow the Risk Assets, Liabilities, Net Interest Income & Trade Revenue.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Business Development & Origination

    • Identify, develop, and onboard new corporate clients, UHNIs and public‑sector clients, aligned with the bank’s target market
    • Originate new business across corporate banking, trade finance, treasury, investment banking and capital markets products
    • Actively prospect through market mapping, referrals, industry intelligence, and ecosystem relationships
    • Develop and execute account acquisition strategies for targeted sectors and regions
    • Drive revenue growth by expanding wallet share within existing client relationships
    • Very good knowledge of the Asaba market and the South-South/South-East regions

    Client Relationship Management

    • Serve as an active relationship manager for assigned clients, maintaining regular engagement with CFOs, Treasurers, and senior management
    • Understand client business models, funding needs, and strategic priorities to proactively propose banking solutions
    • Lead client meetings, prepare call plans and follow‑up actions, and ensure high service standards
    • Build trusted advisory relationships that position the bank as a preferred financial partner

    Deal Origination & Coordination

    • Lead the origination of transactions from opportunity identification through mandate execution
    • Coordinate internal teams (corporate banking, credit, trade, treasury, investment banking) to deliver integrated solutions
    • Support structuring discussions and contribute to transaction design in collaboration with senior bankers
    • Maintain ownership of deal pipelines and ensure momentum from pitch to close

    Reporting & Portfolio Management

    • Maintain accurate CRM records covering prospects, pipelines, and client activities
    • Track revenue performance, deal progress, and client profitability against targets
    • Provide periodic portfolio and pipeline updates to senior management

    Internal & External Collaboration

    • Work closely with Relationship Managers, Product Specialists, Risk, Operations, and Legal teams
    • Represent the bank at industry events, forums, and client functions to enhance market visibility

    Other Requirements

    • Minimum 6 years cognate experience in settlement/reconciliation of Treasury products
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; a relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, ACA) is an advantage.
    • Strong client relationship management skills, including stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and account management.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis, credit assessment, and understanding of banking products and services.
    • Ability to develop business opportunities, manage pipelines, and achieve sales and revenue targets.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
    • Sound knowledge of the Nigerian financial markets and regulatory environment.
    • Demonstrated experience in corporate or commercial banking, client coverage, or a similar relationship-focused financial services role.
    • High ethical standards, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • May require occasional travel to other locations for training or client engagements.
