    Product Head, Acquiring

    JOB PURPOSE

    • Ecobank as the bank that has all-inclusive acquiring capabilities that has established easy to use, global, standard, reliable, and scalable product and services for clients and partners to leverage and to meet their ongoing needs and requirements.  
    • Acquiring products aim to digitize cash, increase acceptance, and provide alternate payment experiences that meet fast evolving merchant and consumer needs.
    • Ensure that every Acquiring Payment capability in market is deployed across the Ecobank Group and made available to all our clients through:
      • proactive development of fit for purpose acquiring capability 
      • conducting customer interviews, feedback, and user testing
      • performing market assessments
      • feature prioritization and road map planning
      • translating business-to-technical requirements
      • pricing and revenue modelling
      • defining and tracking success metrics – transaction volumes, values & revenue. 
      • Leading industry groups & providing though leadership.
      • driving innovation with respect to acquiring products.
      • supporting large and complex deals solutioning. 
    • Working with group technology teams to ensure country business requirements are taken into consideration at group design level including time to market 
    • Driving competition intelligence & benchmarking to ensure that Ecobank product are best in class in order to grow market share

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE 

    • Function will be responsible for the end to end lifecycle - planning, execution and implementation of the capabilities that fall under all four of these domains - cash displacement, increase acceptance (Card & mobile payments acquiring, alternate payment experience & increase revenue
    • Delivering the ability for consumers to pay merchants that might not have full electronic acceptance infrastructure, such as sole traders, market stall operators or micro businesses
    • Consumer to Business and Business to consumer payments(B2C)- Enabling businesses with a need to receive and make fast, direct-to-account payments to consumers, such as emergency relief funding, insurance pay-outs or gift vouchers grow the largest active agency network in country 
    • International payments: Combining (in one easy to use application) the ability for people to do near real-time payments across different financial institutions and overseas country product sales targets distributed on digital channels and through agency 
    • Facilitate ongoing discussions between product managers and market delivery team across regions to define and prioritize product features needed to succeed in those geographies.
    • Guide the design of the platform to improve customer experience

    CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT

    • Identify & execute commercial/market initiatives for incremental volume/revenues/ profits
    • Ensure the affiliate distribution is optimized leveraging consumer analysis 
    • Actively pursue opportunities to improve our route to Market, leveraging best practices 
    • Ensure application of consumer programs designed to enhance consumer brand equity 
    • Drive horizontal expansion through outlet creation incentive programmed
    • Ensure high customer satisfaction as measured and monitored through Customer feedback surveys

    LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

    • Embed digital payments in bank’s organizational culture
    • Provide timely and accurate information on distribution management activities and metrics
    • Actively partner with affiliate heads of business and group Product Heads to optimize distribution

    PROCESS CONTROL AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE  

    • Promote high ethical and integrity standards, and establish a culture within the acquiring and Cash Management that establishes and demonstrates to all customers internal and external the importance of controls
    • Ensure there is a strong internal control system in place to minimise operational losses and franchise risks and monitor its adequacy and effectiveness

    STRATEGIC INITIATIVES  

    • Lead strategic initiatives that will position Ecobank as ‘wherever, whenever’ preferred provider of digital collections and other services offering a great customer experience perspective
    • Implement a loyalty program for merchants and customers to drive growth in product sales  

    JOB PROFILE

    Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

    • A good first degree and a minimum of 8 years International Card Association/FMCG/Telco experience in a senior payment/distribution role. Banking Experience is desirable but not essential 
    • Strong experience in Acquiring, Collections, Channels and Agency Management 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
    • General knowledge of banking products and services
    • Good organizational and time management skills 
    • Inclusive, flexible, internationally savvy and sensitive to customer culture
    • Customer focused & results oriented 
    • Additional qualification in Distribution Management and or Channel Management is an added Advantage.
