    Procurement and Local Imports Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Understand departments’ procurement needs and create procurement plans to meet the organization requirements
    • Identify and evaluate potential domestic and international suppliers, to ensure the procurement of quality products at competitive prices
    • Prepare and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and procedures
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal maintenance of stock levels and minimize obsolete and excess inventory
    • Ensure that procured products and materials meet required quality standards and specifications
    • Implement cost-saving strategies- bulk purchasing, vendor consolidation, and efficient shipping methods
    • Maintain accurate procurement records- invoices purchase orders, contracts, and shipping documentation
    • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics to management
    • Stay updated on importation laws, regulations, and trade policies, and ensure that all import-related activities comply with relevant legal requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ degree in supply chain, business administration, or a related field
    • Certifications in procurement or supply chain management is a plus
    • Proven experience in procurement and importation, with a strong understanding of international trade, customs procedures, and import regulations.
    • Familiarity with procurement software and tools, including ERP systems
    • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
    • Attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software
    • Knowledge of industry-specific procurement practices and trends
    • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and make informed procurement decisions
