Saro Oil Palm Limited plans to gradually develop integrated oil palm plantations of up to 22,000 ha with complimentary industrial units of mills and refineries over the next few years. This role is intended for Saro Oil Palm Limited, Urhonigbe Forest Reserve, Orhionmwon LGA, Edo State.
Job Summary
A Phyto Scout Supervisor for Oil Palm plantation is a professional responsible for monitoring Oil palm fields for signs of pests, diseases and other problems that could affect their growth.
They assess the current conditions of the palms, take samples and data for further investigation, report to hierarchy and plantation management to raise the alarm and ensure control measures are applied.
Duties
Plan and perform visual inspection of Oil Palm fields to assess Oil Palm health and potential risks
Identifying and reporting on potential pest and disease issues
Collecting and recording detailed crop data
Providing regular updates and reports to relevant stakeholders
Organize, monitor and supervise the application of preventive and control measures against pests and diseases as per recommended standards
Train his team of scouts to be able to identify pests and diseases in Oil Palm fields effectively
Organize and supervise his team to ensure effective and efficient scouting daily maximizing the productivity of manpower
Requirements
Minimum of B.Sc (2.1) or HND (Upper Credit) in Agronomy or any similar qualification
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar position or plantation environment
Good knowledge of Oil Palm cultivation and pest management
Excellent observational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
