Job Overview

• Tranquil and Quest Specialist Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Perioperative Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of perioperative nursing experience, hold a valid perioperative nursing license, and demonstrate excellence in patient care, surgical support, and teamwork.
• This role is essential in ensuring safe, sterile, and efficient surgical procedures—before, during, and after operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating theatre and instruments prior to surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during operations by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and monitoring the patient’s condition.
• Provide comprehensive preoperative and postoperative nursing care.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and properly maintained.
• Monitor inventory of surgical supplies and communicate shortages to appropriate departments.
• Maintain detailed and accurate surgical and patient records in line with hospital protocols.
• Educate and counsel patients and their families about procedures, recovery, and post-op care.
• Adhere strictly to infection control, safety, and quality assurance policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare staff to ensure smooth operation flow.
• Respond swiftly and appropriately to surgical emergencies or complications.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from an accredited institution.
• Post-basic certification in Perioperative Nursing (mandatory).
• Valid practicing license with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
• Minimum of 3 years perioperative nursing experience in a recognized hospital or surgical facility.
• In-depth knowledge of operating theatre procedures, infection control, and patient safety standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
