We are seeking an experienced and people-focused People & Culture Officer to join our team full time. This role will be primarily based in Lagos, Nigeria but remote and will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management, as well as implementing policies, training programs, and engagement initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 3 - 4 years of HR or people operations experience who is passionate about employee growth, engagement, and organizational culture.
Key Responsibilities
Leads HR initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and training & development and performance evaluation.
Develop and implement HR policies and training programs.
Manages employee benefits and compensation programs.
Lead employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion efforts.
Provide conflict resolution and workplace support.
Ensures compliance with all relevant labor laws, company policies and best HR practices.
Develops and implements employee engagement programs and initiatives.
Maintains accurate employee records and ensures data privacy and security.
May be involved in organizational development and change management initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
3 - 4 years of relevant experience in HR, people operations, or organizational development, preferably in a nonprofit or social impact setting.
Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
Knowledge of labor laws, HR compliance requirements, and best practices in people management.
Proven ability to design and implement HR policies, training programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
Experience managing compensation, benefits, and HR systems, with attention to data privacy and security.
Ability to navigate conflict resolution and provide workplace support with empathy and professionalism.
Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and experience applying them in HR practices.
Proactive, resourceful, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
