    Partnerships Projects Grants Manager

    Background:

    Founded in 2004, The Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) was created with the aim of improving health outcomes for women, infants and children whilst working towards the systemic and structural changes in the areas of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Gender Equality and Opportunity (GEO).

    At the WBFA, we combine our programmes with advocacy work in Nigeria and around the world allowing every health worker, mother and child access to life altering advice, opportunities and health solutions.

    Scope of work:

    WBFA is seeking and highly motivated and results-oriented Partnership Projects and Grants Manager who will lead on implementing the Foundations internal and external policy and research framework from a national and subnational level in relation to the key areas of organisational advocacy (Maternal and newborn child health, child nutrition, family planning, WASH, violence against women and girls). The candidate will also lead on will lead on building relationships with partners to support the implementation of the Foundation’s stakeholder management, engagement and fundraising strategies to build beneficial, long-term relationships with a diverse portfolio of NGOs, UN and global donor agencies and civil society organisations, whilst also contributing to the , engagement planning and implementation of high-level engagement events. Experience in grant writing is essential for the position.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Partnerships

    • Develop and implement the Foundations partnership strategy as aligned with and contributing to the overall strategic objectives.
    • Build strategic coalitions and relationships among funders/donors, NGO’s, policymakers and relevant international developmental organisation around the Foundations mission, with a particular focus on maternal health, WASH (Water, sanitation and hygiene), child nutrition and the rise of women and girls.
    • Lead on the conceptualisation and drafting of concept notes and partnership proposals
    • Provide strategy and guidance to management and Foundation staff on the importance and effective methods of Global Health/ NGO engagement for proposed developmental growth.
    • Coordinate closely with WBFA’s Programmes, Finance teams on areas related to partnerships.
    • Prepare reports of partnership programme for senior management, trustees management and donor partner.
    • Represent the Foundation at external functions, events and stakeholder meetings.

    Projects

    • Lead on the strategy, delivery and development elements of WBFA donor and endowment funded programmes
    • Plan, manage and monitor the projects' activities, in compliance with the contract signed with the donor/partner and WBFA strategic objectives
    • Support the implementation of all WBFA projects with technical and `structural oversite whilst liaising with the donor-partners global team to ensure projects are conducted to a global standard.
    • Ensure strong coordination and oversite of WBFA program team (program, policy and accounts) and local donor-partner to ensure a successful synergy in joint programmatic activities to ensure highest quality standards in implementation
    • Evaluate local staff employed for projects and participate in the evaluation of the projects.
    • Engage in the writing and preparation of project technical and financial report
    • Ensure the preparation of all project and contract modifications requests of the projects

    Grants

    • Responsible for all the Foundations grant applications and monitoring, working collaboratively with the programmes and finance team.
    • Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify new funding opportunities
    • Manage and maintain records of donor-funded grants
    • Develop compelling cases for support, writing tailored concept notes and applications for submission to international funding bodies and organisations.
    • Submit timely reports to donors to meet their monitoring and evaluation requirements.
    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing funding/grant making organisations.
    • Work closely with project implementation teams to ensure they are capturing the necessary outcomes for reporting requirements
    • Attend appropriate training and networking opportunities
    • Prepare relevant documents for board meetings

    Skills and experience:

    • A track record in project management delivery, partnerships and grants , preferably in a International development, NGO/civil society environment.
    • Experience of writing successful funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations
    • Experience managing a portfolio of institutional funders, including report-writing and relationship management
    • Applicant must have specific interest in healthcare and gender.
    • Excellent writing skills across a range of formats and for a range of audiences with the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives.
    • Good face to face communication and the ability to be at ease with people from a wide range of backgrounds and be confident when dealing with high profile people
    • Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Office programmes and social media channels
    • A strategic mind-set and the ability to offer and receive constructively critical feedback
    • The ability to work both independently, collaboratively with drive and at pace
    • The ability to meet all deadlines set
    • Great organisational skills and the ability to stay on top of many large and small tasks simultaneously
    • Commitment to quality and attention to detail
