    Operations Director

    Job Grade/position Director

    Job Role

    • The Operations Director is responsible for dealing with all aspects of core operations of the organization. He provides leadership, vision, direction and structure to Transport, Clearing, Freight Forwarding and Warehouse Unit, ensuring that it is aligned with overall strategic objectives of the organization.
    • The Operations Director will lead the integration of the operations, with a vision for proactively serving the need for higher visibility, efficiency and developing the organization’s global capabilities for the delivery of services with strong control and accountability oversight.
    • The Operation director will lead in creating an enabling environment where the organization can achieve industry leadership in logistics and supply solutions. He will define and enforce the framework and process for proactive  logistics and supply chain planning of the organization.
    • He will also initiate stronger processes for strategic sourcing through multiple modalities, international and local logistics and inventory management activities and proactive contract management. In addition to processes and strategies, he will improve our data analytics to improve spend and opportunity analysis as well as performance and compliance.
    • This position is critical to achieving operational excellence through the appropriate stewardship of resources.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Achieve agreed revenue target allocated to Transport, Clearing, and Freight Forwarding and as contained in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
    • Develop and operate within monthly and annual Transportation, Clearing and Freight Forward Unit budgets.
    • Provides guidance and leads monthly meetings with all Business Units to monitor, inform and develop strategies to achieve lowest cost transportation and clearing. 
    • Maintains intelligence and insights into global logistic trends that will benefit the organizational in the marketplace.
    • Document and share “best practice” methods, processes and ideas across the business’s distribution network to drive continuous improvements in all aspects of business operations.
    •  Own and lead the innovation and continuous improvement agenda for Clearing, Transport and Freight Forward Unit.
    • Introduce advance supply chain, continuous improvement, and distribution/logistics warehousing tools/methodologies in order to help the organization deliver results in store fulfillment, quality, cost, inventory management and safety
    • Accountable for establishing programs/partnerships and sourcing programs with global 3PLs that can be used by the business to deliver outsourced services for warehousing, transport and supply chain.
    • Set out, establish and oversee the logistics strategy and best practices for global logistics processes that enables the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow.
    • Responsible for the operational leadership of all Operation Units required to meet company growth projections and customer service requirement
    • Evaluate and plan for future Operation needs given the projected future growth of the company.
    • Prepare and submit annual budgets, business plans, strategic plans, monthly operating reports, operating goals/objectives and other management scorecard metrics to senior leadership to maintain a “no surprises” environment
    • Submit financial and other management score card metric information to senior leadership and maintain a “no surprises” environment
    • Responsible for the management and safety of people resources through good practices, employee appraisal systems, implementation of compensation and benefit programs, communication systems, and performance management techniques
    • Document and share “best practice” methods, processes and ideas across the business’s distribution network to drive continuous improvements in all aspects of business operations.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure contractual commitments are met and work is being performed according to expectations, continuously improve vendor base and explore outsourcing opportunities.
    • Develops and implements global transportation cost savings programs for year to year savings.
    • Achieve the Gross Margin as per yearly AOP

    Revenue Target:

    • Achieve Operation revenue target of 2022 of N1.2B (Clearing, Transport and Freight Forwarding).

    Job Requirements

    • 8 - 15 years experience.
    • Must have experience in the following:
