    Open Market Sales Representative

    Job Summary

    • Our client is seeking highly motivated and result-driven Open Market Sales Representatives to drive product availability, visibility, and sales performance across open markets nationwide.
    • The ideal candidate will be attached to designated distributors andwill be responsible for developing assigned territories by actively selling products in open markets, building strong relationships with shop owners and traders, collating orders, and ensuring consistent market penetration.
    • This role requires hands-on field execution, deep understanding of open market dynamics, and proven experience working with top FMCG brands.

    Key Responsibilities
    Market Development & Territory Management:

    • Actively develop and expand the assigned open market territory to increase product reach, availability, and brand presence.
    • Identify new business opportunities within open markets, including onboarding new shop owners and traders.
    • Ensure effective coverage of assigned routes and outlets on a daily basis in line with route-to-market plans.

    Sales Execution & Order Management:

    • Sell FMCG products directly to shop owners, traders, and retailers within open markets.
    • Collate accurate daily, weekly, and monthly orders from customers and ensure timely submission to the distributor.
    • Drive volume growth by upselling, cross-selling, and introducing new product variants to customers.
    • Ensure optimal product mix across outlets to maximize sales performance.

    Distributor Relationship Management:

    • Work closely with assigned distributors to ensure seamless order fulfillment and product availability.
    • Support distributors in stock rotation, product delivery follow-up, and resolution of trade-related issues.
    • Provide regular feedback to distributors on market demand, customer needs, and competitive activities.

    Customer Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with shop owners, traders, and key market influencers.
    • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Educate customers on product benefits, pricing, promotions, and usage to drive repeat purchases.

    Merchandising & Visibility:

    • Ensure proper product display, visibility, and merchandising in line with company standards.
    • Implement promotional activities and in-market activations to support brand visibility.
    • Monitor and ensure correct pricing and availability of products across outlets.

    Market Intelligence & Reporting:

    • Gather and report market intelligence, including competitor pricing, promotions, and distribution strategies.
    • Submit accurate daily sales reports, route plans, order summaries, and market feedback.
    • Track performance against sales targets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly sales volume targets.
    • Number of active outlets serviced within assigned territory.
    • Growth in numeric and weighted distribution.
    • Order accuracy and timely submission of sales orders.
    • Product availability and stock rotation levels in the market.
    • Market coverage efficiency and route compliance.
    • Customer retention and repeat purchase rate.
    • Quality and timeliness of sales and market intelligence reports.
    • Contribution to distributor sales growth and territory expansion.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum of OND / HND / B.Sc. in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar sales role within the FMCG industry.
    • Prior experience working with top FMCG companies is mandatory.
    • Strong background in open market sales and distributor-managed routes.
    • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong selling, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
    • In-depth understanding of open market dynamics and FMCG route-to-market execution.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong relationship-building and customer management abilities.
    • High level of integrity, resilience, and self-motivation.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Good numerical and reporting skills.
    • Physically fit and able to work extensively in the field.
    • Basic proficiency in mobile sales reporting tools and MS Office applications.
