    Mental Health Officer

    Role Overview

    • We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Officer to lead the design, implementation, and management of WIMROF's mental health programs.
    • The successful candidate will work closely with the programs and health teams to provide mental health support, raise awareness, and promote emotional well-being within the communities we serve.
    • This role requires a strong understanding of mental health issues, community-based interventions, and the ability to provide culturally sensitive support.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement mental health programs tailored to the needs of underserved communities.
    • Conduct mental health assessments and provide individual and group counseling sessions.
    • Train staff and community volunteers on mental health awareness and first aid.
    • Create and distribute educational materials to promote mental health awareness.
    • Collaborate with health and programs teams to integrate mental health into broader health initiatives.
    • Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing psychological distress.
    • Monitor and evaluate program impact through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
    • Liaise with community leaders to ensure culturally appropriate delivery of mental health services.
    • Refer individuals to specialized mental health services when needed
    • Advocate for mental health policies and increased access to mental health services.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Mental Health, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health program delivery or counseling.
    • Strong knowledge of mental health issues and evidence-based intervention strategies.
    • Experience providing culturally sensitive mental health support.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience working with underserved communities is an advantage.
