    Member, Board of Directors

    Locations: Nationwide (North West, North East, North Central, South West, South East, South South)

    Details

    • ActionAid Nigeria is registered as a company limited by guarantee with the Corporate Affairs Commission under the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990. ActionAid Nigeria's Board of Directors was constituted in 2009.
    • With the recent retirement of some members of the Board of Directors and in accordance with the requirements of our Governance manual, ActionAid Nigeria is seeking to recruit members into its Board of Directors.

    Job Description

    • We are seeking experienced Professionals and Public servants with background in Information Technology (Programming for Development), Humanitarian and Resilience, Climate Change and Agriculture, Advocacy, Resource Mobilization, and a Person with disability representative, to replace the retired members of the Board of Diroctors.

    Duties
    The Duties of the Board are as follows:

    • Ensuring execution of strategies, policies and standards within the strategic framework approved by the Assembly.
    • Ensuring execution of plans and budgets within the resource allocation framework and long-term financial plan approved by the Assembly.
    • Resource mobilisation for the organization.
    • Supervision of preparation of the organizations reports which include audit reports.
    • Appointment, performance review and termination of appointment of the Country Director.
    • Presentation of annual report, strategy and audit reports to the Assembly for approval.
    • Oversight of the Organizations risk assessment and management.
    • Management of grievances against the Country Director.
    • Monitoring and management of Affiliates compliance with the Constitution and other regulations.
    • Proposal of matters for the Assembly's consideration and approval.
    • Self-review of the Board.
    • Presentation of the Boards progress report to the Assembly.
    • Approval of the Board Committees terms of reference and the appointment, renewal and dismissal of their members.

    Requirements

    • Interested candidates applying must have strong values of accountability, good governance, and commitment to the cause of people living in poverty and exclusion, courage of conviction and taking sides with the less privileged to eradicate poverty.
    • Experience on other non-governmental organizations Board is essential.

    Remuneration
    Membership of the Board of Directors in ActionAid Nigeria is voluntary. Therefore, members of the Board of Directors are not remunerated for the work they do for ActionAid Nigeria (they do not earn salaries, sitting allowances, etc). Only travel expenses are reimbursed for meetings held thrice a year.
