Job Description

Perform diagnostic tests

• Conduct chemical, microscopic, and other analyses on patient samples to diagnose and treat diseases.

Analyze samples

• Examine and analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells to identify abnormalities, infectious microorganisms, or abnormal cells.

Operate and maintain equipment

• Use and maintain high-precision laboratory equipment like microscopes, cell counters, and automated analyzers to ensure accuracy.

Ensure quality and accuracy

• Implement quality control procedures to monitor and ensure the reliability of test results.

Communicate results

• Report and interpret test results clearly and accurately to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to assist in patient care.

Blood analysis

• Perform blood typing and cross-matching for transfusions.

Record and document

• Accurately document all test results and procedures.

Follow safety protocols

• Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines, such as those from OSHA.

Qualifications and skills

• University Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a reputable institution
• Valid credentials and practice license from MLSCN
• NYSC completion or discharge certificate
• 1 - 3 years post-NYSC experience
• Strong knowledge of chemistry, biology, and anatomy.
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment.
• Analytical and observational skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with quality control and assurance procedures.
