Medical Lab Scientist at ECWA Hospital, Egbe

• Reporting to the Head of Department for the Clinical Laboratory, the Medical Laboratory Scientist will analyze a variety of biological specimens. He/she will be responsible for performing specific testing on samples and reporting results to the physicians via the Electronic Medical Record system. The results he/she issues play a very important role in identifying and treating medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the laboratory is clean and orderly, and workflow organized and efficient.
• Monitor patient outcomes and relay test results to physicians.
• Utilize microscopes, cell counters, and other high-precision lab equipment.
• Establish quality assurance programs to monitor and ensure the accuracy of test results.
• Ensure the efficient implementation and documentation of programmed quality control.
• Supervise and assist with the performance of all procedures assigned to the laboratory; being responsible for accuracy and clarity of reports.
• Responsible for the implementation of efficient, effective, and documented preventive maintenance for the laboratory.
• Be responsible for the safety of laboratory personnel by assuring continuing compliance with the safety policy of the department.
• Constantly alert to the quality and quantity of work performed in the laboratory.
• Understand well the principles of, and is able to teach and perform, all procedures assigned to the laboratory.
• Understand the importance of effective communication and coordinate activities in attaining meaningful objectives.
• Perform any other appropriate duties as requested by the Head of department of the clinical laboratory.

Qualifications

• Must possess a BSc in Medical Laboratory Science
• Must be a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist
• Must have at least two years of working experience in a clinical laboratory
• Knowledge of Quality Management System is an asset
• Must be a growing Christian
• Must be computer literate and technologically savvy
