Mechanic - Gear and Transmission at Sunbeth Global Concepts (SGC)

As a Heavy-Duty Gear and Transmission Systems Technician, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of vehicles’ gear and transmission systems, ensuring their viability for all ranges of trips. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, diagnostic acumen, and a deep understanding of cutting-edge practices in managing gears and transmission systems.

Diagnose and Troubleshoot:

• Perform thorough diagnostics on heavy-duty trucks to identify issues in the gear and transmission systems.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems accurately.
• Prevent clutch, gear, and transmission issues in transit by daily thorough pre-trip inspections to identify and escalate potential issues with the functionality of various related parts before they cause breakdowns.

Repair and Maintenance:

• Execute repairs and maintenance tasks on gear and transmission systems, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications, in a timely manner to ensure vehicle availability at all times when they are needed.
• Overhaul and rebuild transmissions as needed to restore optimal functionality.

Parts Replacement:

• Efficiently replace worn-out or damaged parts in gear and transmission systems.
• Source and order necessary components, ensuring compatibility and quality in a prompt manner to avoid extended vehicle idle time.
• Ensure all replaced parts are properly returned to the store for proper tagging and recording.

Quality Control:

• Conduct rigorous testing on repaired systems to guarantee proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.
• Ensure proper and adequate lubrication of all gear and transmission components to keep them in healthy conditions.
• Ensure all repairs meet industry regulations and internal quality benchmarks.

Documentation:

• Maintain detailed records of repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.
• Provide comprehensive reports on completed tasks, outlining steps taken and parts used.
• Ensure drivers are aware of all maintenance activities executed on their vehicles and sign the repair card to corroborate all repairs done.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other mechanics and relevant departments to address multifaceted issues.
• Share expertise and insights to enhance overall team performance.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines.
• Stay informed about industry developments and changes in regulations related to gear and transmission systems.

JOB EXPERIENCE

• HND or Certificate of Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, with a focus on gear and transmission systems,
• Expertise in utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and software for engine analysis.
• Specialized training in heavy-duty truck transmissions.
• Knowledge of the latest advancements in transmission system technology.
• Accurate tracing of transmission challenges to their root causes through thorough diagnostics and the repair of same utilizing sustainable measures and components
• Certification from recognized automotive or diesel mechanic institutions.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
• Physical agility and stamina required for extended periods of standing and manual labor.
