    Meal Finishing Operator

    Job Summary

    The Meal Finishing Operator is responsible for the efficient management, supervision, and control of the end-of-line production processes. This includes operating the meal-bagging machinery, ensuring strict adherence to weight and quality standards, managing inventory through accurate stock-taking, and providing direct supervision to casual employees. The role ensures that the final product is packaged, stacked, and recorded in accordance with operational effectiveness and safety standards. 

    Key Result Areas (KRA): The key result areas of this role are:

    S/N KRA OBJECTIVE
    1 Production Target Achievement Achieve 100% of the daily production quota (in tons/bags) per shift, ensuring zero downtime due to operator error.
    2 Weight & Quality Accuracy Maintain zero variance outside the approved weight tolerance (+/X grams) for 100% of bags produced per batch.
    3 Inventory & FIFO Compliance Achieve 99% accuracy in daily stock taking and ensure 100% compliance with FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stacking protocols.
    4 Maintenance Response Ensure that any mechanical breakdown is reported to the maintenance team within 10 minutes of occurrence to minimize production lag.
    5 Record Keeping & Reporting Complete all daily production logs, batch records, and manpower attendance sheets with 100% accuracy by the end of each shift.
    6 Workplace Safety & Housekeeping Maintain a \\\"Zero Incident\\\" safety record for casual staff and ensure the Godown/work area meets 5S/GMP cleanliness standards daily.

    Responsibilities:

    • Operate the Meal Bagging Machine and auxiliary equipment, ensuring the entire finishing process runs at peak capacity.
    • Monitor the accuracy of bag weights continuously through regular check-weighing to prevent product loss or customer complaints.
    • Ensure the integrity of packaging, including proper stitching, sealing, and clear batch coding/labeling.
    • Act as the first line of defense in troubleshooting; provide prompt notification to maintenance personnel in the event of equipment failure to ensure rapid repairs.
    • Oversee and conduct daily physical stock taking of finished meals, empty bags, and consumables (thread, needles, etc.).
    • Enforce proper stacking of the Meal in the Godown, ensuring the gangway is kept clear and accessible at all times.
    • Implement and monitor the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory system to prevent stock obsolescence or spoilage.
    • Ensure the Godown and production floor adhere to strict housekeeping and sanitation standards (GMP).
    • Monitor the physical quality of the meal (e.g., checking for lumps, moisture, or contamination) before bagging.
    • Maintain and update control documents for machine history, equipment usage, and daily production reports.
    • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure all bagged products meet the required market standards.
    • Supervise and coordinate casual employees and laborers involved in the bagging, carrying, and stacking processes.
    • Ensure all team members follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to prevent workplace accidents.
    • 3 to 5 years of proven production work experience.
    • Ability to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on industrial bagging and stitching machines.
    • Strong numerical skills for accurate stock counting and weight calculations.
    • Understanding of FIFO and warehouse management principles.
    • Deep knowledge of production management and Experience in reporting on key production metrics.
    • Familiarity with ISO, GMP, AND SON compliance Guidelines.
    • Experience and knowledge of provincial health and safety standards.
    • Excellent supervision, communication (oral and written), Organization and leadership abilities, Self-motivated with a result-driven approach, problem-solving skills.
