Mathematics Teacher (Primary) at TAAS College

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging mathematics lessons in line with the school’s curriculum (British/Montessori/National, as applicable).
• Create and use a variety of teaching materials and strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of pupils.
• Use assessments, evaluations, and observations to monitor and support students’ progress.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Develop and submit weekly lesson plans and learning materials.
• Assign, mark, and provide feedback on classwork, homework, and assessments.
• Encourage mathematical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborate with other teachers and school leadership to support whole-school goals.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.

Requirements

• A Degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (B.Ed., B.Sc. with PGDE, etc.).
• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of child-centered teaching approaches.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to integrate digital tools and educational technology in teaching.
• Familiarity with Montessori, British, or Nigerian curriculum standards is an added advantage.
• Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in the academic and personal development of children.

Preferred Skills:

• Use of educational tools such as Google Classroom, Zoom, or Canva for Schools.
• Ability to develop creative, hands-on learning activities.
• Experience preparing students for internal and external mathematics assessments.
