    Maintenance Manager

    Job Summary

    Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MESL) is seeking an experienced Plant Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance of a major hydropower plant with a capacity of 980MW. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of maintenance operations at the hydroelectric power plant. This role requires a strategic leader who can implement and sustain best practices in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure the plant operates efficiently and safely. The Maintenance Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager and will be groomed for potential succession into the Plant Manager role.

    Job Details

    • Leadership & Team Management:
      • Lead and manage the plant's maintenance team, including engineers, technicians, and support staff.
      • Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the maintenance team.
      • Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to develop the skills and capabilities of the maintenance team.
    • Maintenance Strategy & Execution:
      • Develop, implement, and oversee the plant’s maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
      • Ensure maintenance activities are aligned with plant operational goals, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
      • Optimize maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure the reliability of the plant’s equipment and systems.
      • Oversee the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for all facilities, including powerhouse, switchyard, dam, intakes, protection & control systems and other related assets.
      • Ensure the effective and efficient execution of preventive and predictive maintenance to optimize plant performance.
      • Provides leadership for the appropriate use of maintenance procedures and instructions as the permit to work and lock out/tag procedures in order to promote safe operation and maintenance in the plant.
      • Prepares necessary plant maintenance reports in a timely manner and investigates all forced outages for the root cause analysis process.
      • Ensure implementation of reliability centered maintenance RCM.
      • Ensure compliance with the 5S methodology.
    • Asset Management & Optimization:
      • Monitor the condition and performance of plant equipment and infrastructure, ensuring the longevity of critical assets.
      • Lead efforts to identify and implement equipment upgrades or replacements based on life cycle analysis and performance data.
      • Manage inventory control for spare parts and equipment required for plant maintenance.
      • Work with the asset management team to maintain an accurate inventory of plant assets, track asset performance, and make data-driven decisions for equipment replacements or upgrades.
      • Monitor asset depreciation, forecast future maintenance needs, and plan for capital expenditures to ensure uninterrupted operations.
    • Safety & Compliance:
      • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
      • Work closely with the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team to maintain a safe working environment and actively participate in safety audits and training programs.
      • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
    • Budgeting & Cost Management:
      • Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions for repairs, parts, and labor.
      • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising the reliability and safety of plant operations.
      • Track and report on maintenance costs, performance metrics, and project outcomes.
      • Oversee procurement of spare parts, consumables, services and other resources to ensure smooth plant operation while optimizing costs.
    • Collaboration & Communication:
      • Collaborate with the Plant Manager, Operations team, and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and support plant-wide initiatives.
      • Liaise with external contractors and service providers to ensure the quality and timely completion of outsourced maintenance work.
      • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on maintenance activities, asset condition, and key performance indicators.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees or certifications in maintenance management or relevant disciplines are a plus.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably within the power generation, industrial, or hydroelectric sectors.
    •  Strong knowledge of hydroelectric power plant systems, including turbines, generators, transformers, and associated mechanical and electrical equipment.
    •  Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex maintenance projects, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
    •  Comprehensive understanding of safety and environmental regulations relevant to power plant maintenance.
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
    •  Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a strong track record of success, with the potential to succeed the Plant Manager.
