    Legal Affairs Specialist

    The Legal Affairs Specialist is responsible for managing local legal and compliance matters in Nigeria. The role ensures that the company’s operations comply with Nigerian laws and regulations, including labor, commercial, and corporate requirements, while minimizing legal risks and supporting stable business operations.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Manage local compliance in Nigeria in accordance with applicable laws such as the Nigerian Labour Act and the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), ensuring the company’s operations, employment practices, and commercial activities remain legally compliant and risk-controlled.
    • Draft, review, amend, and file various legal documents and contracts, with particular focus on employment contracts, local cooperation agreements, and dispute prevention.
    • Handle local legal affairs, including labor disputes, business and tax-related matters, licensing, and regulatory compliance; liaise with local lawyers and relevant government agencies to safeguard the company’s legal rights and interests.
    • Support internal legal and compliance training by promoting local regulations and company compliance systems; monitor legal and regulatory updates and provide recommendations for compliance optimization.
    • Manage external legal counsel and support litigation, arbitration, and other legal proceedings by tracking case progress and providing timely feedback to management.
    • Assist with employment-related legal compliance matters to ensure recruitment, employment, and termination processes comply with local legal requirements, and complete other legal tasks assigned by management.

    Job Requirements

    • Nigerian nationality, with strong understanding of local culture, laws, and regulatory practices, and the ability to independently manage local legal affairs.
    • Bachelor’s degree or above in Law or a related field. Possession of a Nigerian legal professional qualification is an added advantage.
    • 1–3 years of relevant legal work experience, preferably within a Chinese enterprise or a company requiring strong local compliance operations.
    • Strong knowledge of Nigerian labor, corporate, and commercial laws, with the ability to independently draft and review contracts, handle basic legal disputes, and liaise with legal authorities and government agencies.
    • Fluent in English and Nigerian languages, with good written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other office software.
    • High sense of responsibility, strong confidentiality awareness, excellent communication and coordination skills, sound logical thinking, professional integrity, and strong teamwork spirit.
    • No record of illegal activities; able to work full-time, comply with company arrangements, and candidates familiar with the operational model of Chinese enterprises are preferred.
