The Business Development Lead will drive FHSA’s growth by building a robust client portfolio, generating new opportunities, and closing high-value deals across donors, implementation partners, private sector, and government agencies. The role requires a proven ability to leverage existing networks while actively cultivating new partnerships that align with FHSA’s strategic priorities.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain a strong client portfolio across FHSA’s tiers of clients, including donors, implementation partners, private sector, and government agencies.
Drive strong lead generation and consistently close high-ticket deals across all client segments.
Originate, pursue, and close new business opportunities to meet and exceed annual growth targets.
Identify and shape new business opportunities by leveraging the expertise of FHSA’s core teams, including programs, technical services, and research.
Lead the design and development of high-quality technical proposals, coordinating with sector experts and partners.
Negotiate and secure contracts across private sector, government, and donor clients.
Represent FHSA in industry forums, corporate round-tables, investor events, and government platforms.
Drive the business development team to achieve growth targets.
Lead the performance management of teams, ensuring delivery of work to set standards, quality, and deadlines.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Development, or related field.
Master’s degree (MBA or related advanced degree)desirable.
7+years of progressive business development or consulting experience with both private sector and development clients.
Proven track record of leading technical proposal development and winning high-value contracts.
Proven track record of building client portfolios, generating leads across diverse client groups.
Strong networks with corporates, agribusinesses, investors, donors, and governments.
Excellent negotiation, relationship management, collaboration and communication skills.
Experience managing and inspiring teams to meet ambitious organisation's goals.
Research skills to identify emerging opportunities and a drive for growth that fuels FHSA’s mission.
