    Investment Analyst

    Role Overview

    • The Investment Analyst will provide high-quality analytical, coordination, and research support to the Investment Promotion Lead across multiple mandates.
    • The role requires a high performing, globally minded professional capable of turning ideas into bankable opportunities by building pipelines, preparing documentation, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring engagements meet international standards in investment promotion, blended finance, and project development.
    • This position functions as the operational engine behind the Lead - translating strategy into structured analysis, clean documentation, dashboards, and consistent follow-through.

    Key Responsibilities
Research, Market Intelligence & Knowledge Management:

    • Conduct sector and policy research across priority industries (e.g., agriculture, energy, infrastructure, creative economy, healthcare, manufacturing).
    • Profile investors, DFIs, funds, corporates, and development partners, mapping mandates, instruments, ticket sizes, and recent transactions.
    • Track macroeconomic, regulatory, and policy developments relevant to investment promotion and blended finance in Nigeria and partner countries.
    • Maintain knowledge repositories including investor databases, pipeline trackers, sector briefs, and document libraries.
    • Prepare concise research notes, slide decks, and talking points for meetings, pitches, and workshops.

    Pipeline Development & Project Preparation:

    • Support the identification, screening, and classification of project/SME pipelines using agreed criteria.
    • Gather and organize data from project sponsors/SMEs (financials, business model, impact metrics, governance, legal structure).
    • Contribute to project proposals, investment summaries, presentations, and reports in line with best practice.
    • Assist in risk assessment using structured frameworks (financial analysis, value chain mapping, risk registers).
    • Support development and updating of project opportunity matrices.

Investor, Donor & Partner Engagement Support:

    • Prepare briefing packs and profiles ahead of meetings, roadshows, and workshops.
    • Draft high-quality correspondence, follow-up notes, and meeting summaries for the Lead and senior management.
    • Track action points from engagements with DFIs, donors, banks, corporates, and government agencies, ensuring follow-through.
    • Support planning of investment promotion events, roundtables, webinars, and roadshows (logistics, invite lists, materials, pre-reads, follow-up).
    • Maintain a CRM-style log of investor and partner interactions aligned to each pipeline.

    Analytics, Modelling & Reporting:

    • Assist with basic financial analysis and modelling (revenue projections, simple cash flows, sensitivity scenarios under guidance).
    • Collate and validate data for KPI tracking, dashboards, and reports to clients and internal management.
    • Prepare structured monthly progress reports covering pipeline status, deal stages, capital mobilised/in discussion, partnership updates, and key insights.

    Process, Systems & Coordination:

    • Translate annual/quarterly work plans into weekly task lists and tracking sheets alongside the Investment Promotion Lead.
    • Coordinate inputs from internal and external stakeholders to meet documentation and reporting deadlines.
    • Ensure proper document version control, naming standards, and secure storage.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of templates, tools, and processes (investor profiles, pipeline trackers, standard templates).
    • Provide administrative and coordination support (calendar scheduling, basic logistics, documentation routing).

Success in this role will be measured by:

    • Quality and timeliness of analysis, documentation and reporting, and feedback from the Investment Promotion Lead and key Clients.

    Profile
    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Policy, International Relations, Agriculture, or related fields.
    • Postgraduate degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA Level I, FRM, PPP, FMVA, AFM) is an advantage but not mandatory.

    Experience

    • 2–4 years’ experience in at least one of the following:
      • Investment banking, corporate finance, or transaction advisory
      • Development finance/DFI, donor-funded projects, or impact investing
      • Management consulting or policy advisory
      • Investment promotion agency, PPP unit, or related public-private institutions
    • Exposure to projects involving DFIs, donors, VCs, PEs, blended finance instruments, guarantees, or climate/SDG-linked facilities is a strong advantage.
    • Experience working with Nigerian public sector institutions is an added benefit.

    Skills & Competencies
    Technical & Analytical:

    • Strong research and analytical capabilities with ability to synthesise complex information into clear outputs.
    • Comfort with numbers, basic financial analysis, and simple financial modelling.
    • Ability to apply frameworks (value chain analysis, risk matrices, stakeholder mapping, SDG/ESG alignment).
    • Understanding of investor requirements across DFIs, donors, VCs, PEs, and commercial banks.
    • Familiarity with blended finance, concessional capital, guarantees, and climate/SDG funds (or strong willingness to learn).
    • High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides, and Word/Google Docs.

    Communication & Writing:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce high-quality documents with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to tailor messages for DFIs, donors, government agencies, investors, and SMEs.
    • Experience preparing business plans, investment teasers, and pitch decks.

    Mindset & Behaviour:

    • Strong project management and multitasking abilities with strict attention to detail.
    • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
