Job Summary

• The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy-duty vehicles and machinery such as trucks, bulldozers, excavators, cranes, and graders.
• The role ensures all equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Performing routine maintenance on heavy-duty equipment and vehicles.
• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on machinery.
• Conducting repairs and replacing damaged or worn parts as needed.
• Testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Keeping maintenance records and updating service logs.
• Interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
• Conducting inspections and identifying potential issues before they become major problems.
• Operating various hand and power tools.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Responding to emergency repair calls and performing field service when required.

Requirements

• Trade certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and brake systems.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in outdoor and workshop environments.
• Strong knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
• Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
