    Health Project Officer

    Background/RIA Summary:  

    Rise to Inspire Africa Initiative is an emerging youth-led, impact-driven, women-focused, humanitarian, and developmental non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to alleviating the sufferings of the vulnerable and most marginalized people in sub-Saharan Africa. We aim to inspire the victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters, especially women and children, to attain self-reliance and sufficiency while providing access to equal opportunities through advocacy, collaborative networking, capacity building, and empowerment. We seek to enhance the ability of our clients to make integrated and right decisions through the many and varied programs that will help them physically, psychologically, and intellectually grow and thrive.

    RIA commenced operations fully in Oct. 2020 in Borno State complimenting the efforts of partners and humanitarian actors by providing humanitarian support to unreached internally displaced populations hosted in IDP camps, camp-like settings, host communities, and returnee populations. We are working consciously hard to improve lives in the following thematic areas, education in emergencies, protection: child protection, gender-based violence and peacebuilding and conflict resolution, and the software component of WaSH.

    Job Overview/Summary:

    The Project Officer for the KP CARE 2 Project will play a pivotal role in reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS on vulnerable key populations, specifically FSW. This position focuses on increasing access to high-quality HIV prevention, treatment, and support services. The Project Officer will work closely with our partner, the government, and other relevant stakeholders to achieve the project’s goals.

    Major Responsibilities: 

    • Assist in implementing project activities, ensuring they align with the project’s objectives and timelines.
    • Provide oversight and guidance to case managers and peer navigators, ensuring they effectively support clients and meet project goals.
    • Work with government bodies, and healthcare providers such as the community clinical Service Assistant points - CCSAPs, One Stop Shop- OOS, and community-based organizations to enhance service delivery.
    • Monitor project progress, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports on project outcomes. Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
    • Organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops for stakeholders to build capacity in HIV prevention, treatment, and support.
    • Engage with vulnerable populations, including at-risk children and their sexual partners, to understand their needs and provide tailored support services.
    • Assist in managing project resources, including budgeting and financial reporting, to ensure efficient use of funds.
    • Promote awareness about HIV/AIDS and advocate for policy changes that support the project’s objectives.
    • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to ensure clients receive comprehensive services, including medical care, psychosocial support, and other relevant services.
    • Maintain accurate records of project activities and prepare regular reports for stakeholders and donors.                                               

    Reporting and Working Relationships:

    • Position Reports to Project Manager. 
    • Position directly supervises: Case Manager(s)
    • Indirect Reporting: Head of Operation, Executive Director

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.

    Experience:

    • At least 2-5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

    Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    Skills:

    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • A good understanding of the local context and the ability to speak Hausa, and Kanuri will be an added advantage.
    • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of HIV/AIDS issues and challenges.
    • Familiarity with government policies and frameworks related to HIV/AIDS.
    • Knowledge of community-based healthcare approaches.
